The GlobeIn Artisan Box is a monthly subscription box featuring GlobeIn‘s favorite products from global artisans. Each box is curated around a monthly theme selected by their editor with the aim of helping you experience new and interesting products and cultures.
GlobeIn ships via USPS. Boxes ship on the 15th of the month (I received mine early for review purposes). Orders placed after the 15th of the calendar month will ship on the 15th of the following calendar month. If boxes sell out before the 15th your subscription will begin the following month.
This month all of the contents of the box were packed inside of the basket that is included with every box. They try to do this every month, but things don’t always fit.
The January 2016 GlobeIn Artisan Box theme was “Bathe” and included the following items:
~Pestemal Bath Towel (Denizli, Turkey) ($25): I love turkish towels! I use them as beach towels and as towels for my hair after the shower. They are super lightweight so you can easily store them and toss them in your beach bag, but they absorb a ton of water.
~Lemongrass Citrus African Black Soap (Togo) (5oz / 142g) ($4.99): This soap is made from a centuries old recipe of handcrafted shea butter and West African palm kernel oil. The ingredients are good for you and the company that produces it is all about doing good for the community as well. Alaffia uses their profits to fund maternal care for women of rural Togo and sends bicycles for Tologese students – who may live as far as 10 miles from school and would previously have to walk to get there.
~Hand Towel (Izmir, Turkey) ($12): This hand towel is much thicker than the bath towel above. It’s super soft (way softer than I was expecting) and is already in my bathroom!
~Shea & Red Palm Body Lotion (Togo) ($2): This smells amazing! It’s “Mango Citrus” scented and is very hydrating. It’s made by the same company that produces the soap in this box which uses their proceeds to benefit the people of Togo.
~Silk Face Scrub (Bursa, Turkey) (~$5): I am not sold on this yet. You use it after a hot shower when your skin is soft and damp and then rinse with cold water. It’s silk so it is supposed to purify your face and neck and boost collagen production. I’m going to need to use this a few more times before making a decision.
~GlobeIn Signature Palm Leaf Basket from Oaxaca, Mexico ($12): I am not sure if I knew this before, but according to the information card each of these baskets takes 2-3 hours to weave. Wow! GlobeIn suggests using them to store small bathroom accessories, but you can do just about anything with them from holding kids toys to using them to package gifts.
All totaled I came up with a value of $60.99 for the January 2016 GlobeIn Artisan “Bathe” box. I loved the picks for this one and am just thrilled that they included two towels!

Hi! I was wondering if you’d had a chance to use and wash the towel yet and how it looked afterward. As much as I love GlobeIn I’m a little wary of the turkish towels.
