Hamptons Lane curates an amazing monthly box of artisan foods, kitchen tools, and serveware for the food lover. Boxes are $47/month and are revealed at the beginning of every month. Boxes are created around a monthly theme, such as Southwestern Fiesta, Summer Cocktail, The Best of BBQ, Coastal Italy, etc. Unlike most subscription boxes, you can skip the box if it doesn’t interest you during the first five days of that month.

Hamptons Lane generally ships in the second half of the month.

As I mentioned, the contents of Hamptons Lane are always revealed at the beginning of the month, so opening it is never much of a surprise.

The January 2016 Hamptons Lane theme was “Power Bowls” and included the following items to help you jumpstart healthy living with daily power lunches of fresh veggies, ancient grains, and perfectly seasoned proteins, all neatly packed and transported to your desk in a stainless steel Power Bowl:

~Dia Del Perro Medium Lightly Smoked Pepper Sauce from Lucky Dog ($6.99): I was a bit concerned that this was going to be crazy hot, but happily it’s not.  It’s described as a “mild salsa-like sauce with a hint of medium heat from habanero-infused sea salt”. The information booklet includes recipes for a “March to the Beet Power Bowl”, a “Steak, Chickpeas + Quinoa Bowl”, a “Beet, Farro + Chicken Bowl” and a “Not-So-Shrimpy Southwestern Bowl” all of which call for this hot sauce.

~14cm Airtight Container from Onyx ($23.95):This is made out of food grade stainless steel and holds 4.25 cups. It has a silicone seal and latches to keep it super secure. I can almost guarantee that this not going to open in your bag.  It stays on tight.  I love the idea of packing lunches in here everyday.  You can fit a great salad in here or use one of the included Power Bowl recipes from the information book.

~Silicone Portable Salad Dressing-To-Go Container from Evriholde ($7.69): This is pure genius.  I never have the proper container to transport dressing.  This actually lets you squeeze the dressing out just like if you had the bottle at home.  It holds 2 ounces of liquid and promises to be leakproof.  I personally would stick this inside of my power bowl just to be safe, but also for easy transporting.

~Minnesota Grown Wild Rice from Northbay Trading Co (8oz) ($3.90): This rice is higher in protein than other white rices and grains and also has a shorter cook time.  It still does take 40-45 minutes to prepare, so I would make this the night before to pack in your Power Bowl lunch.

~Organic Farro from Nuts.com (8oz) ($2.50): Farro is rich in fiber, protein, iron, magnesium and vitamin B and also contain 4 grams of protein before serving.  They are very similar to rice and need to be soaked overnight and then cooked for 30-45 minutes.  This is another item you totally would need to prepare in advance for your Power Bowl, but it’s a nice change of pace from your normal rice / quinoa.

~Chile Margarita Rub from Spiceologist (2oz) ($4.22): The final item in the box was a Chile Margarita Run from Spiceologist.  Many of the included recipes call for this spice which gets it’s flavor from ancho peppers, Aleppo chile, orange peel and lime peel.  It gluten-free, contains no MSG and is made in the USA.

I love that Hamptons Lane gives you lots of tools and recipes to use every single time you receive in the box.  Not only does the information booklet include recipes, but you can find even more Power Bowl recipes online at Hamptons Lane. I absolutely loved this box.  I think it was a great New Years box and works well for those who resolved to eat better this year and to those who are trying to each lunch out less! I will try and post some of my Power Bowls on Instagram as I make them.
