Birchbox February 2016 “Date Night” Featured Box Review + Coupon Codes Birchbox offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes to get some complete steals (which I try to do).  I have been subscribing to Birchbox for over 3 years now and would say they are one of the most (maybe the most) well known subscription boxes out there. They are certainly one of the longest lasting boxes.
Birchbox ships via USPS and all boxes generally ship by the 10th of the month. The monthly “curated” box (like this one) tends to ship earlier, unless you get add-ons.

Since I have two accounts I generally opt for that month’s curated box on one account and opt for the standard Birchbox on the other account.  This review is on the February 2016 “Date Night” Featured Box.
The February 2016 “Date Night” Birchbox Box included the following editor favorites to help you create an effortless look:

~Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Strumpet (.08oz) ($9.14): Strumpet is a seedless red grape color. If you have never tried lip tar before, let me caution you that a little goes a long way! It’s a BOLD lip color and lasts forever. I swatched some on my arm and left it to see how long it would last. Forever is the answer. It lasts forever. Use a brush to apply for sure. You do not want to get this on the skin around your lips or on your fingers because it’s difficult to remove.

~Whish Renewing Mud Mask (15mL) ($11): Masks must be a new line item for Whish because I have previously just known them for their body care line. This mask is like the smoothest mud you’ve ever felt. My swatch picture below makes it look gritty, but it’s not at all. The scent is a little odd (it’s kind of a light floral), but luckily it’s not overpowering. I’m a fan of this.

~amika Bombshell Blowout Spray (1oz) ($3): amika is a Birchbox favorite. And one of mine as well. Their blowout spray smells amazing and can be used on damp or dry hair to volumize, smooth and protect.

~Cynthia Rowley Beauty Brightening Illuminator (.04oz) ($10.18): This highlighter give yours skin a shimmery glow without being too over the top. Just dab a little bit wherever you need to glow.

~Catherine Malandrino Romance de Provence (.06fl.oz) ($3.90): Meh. I am not a fan. According to the card, this scent “mixes fruity and floral nuances with vanilla and patchouli”. I found the floral / patchouli combination to be too much for me.

All totaled I came up with a value of $37.22 for the Birchbox “Date Night” featured box.  Including the points I get for purchasing the box (10 points = $1 to spend in the Birchbox Shop) and reviewing / sharing the items in the box (60 points = $6), the value increases to $44.22. That’s a huge value for Birchbox and I am very pleased with this box.

Have you gotten your Birchbox yet this month? What’d you think?  If you are interested in subscribing, new customers can use the coupon code  “”MALLYGIFT” to get a free Mally Evercolor Shadow Stick in Copper Rose (a $25 value) with any new Birchbox subscription purchase.
