Birchbox Man (as pictured here) is $20/month and sends you monthly deliveries of deluxe grooming and lifestyle samples, tailored to your profile. With Birchbox Man you can try cult brands, up-and-coming lines, and everything in between. They have also just launched Birchbox Man Beta! It’s $10/month and contains four deluxe samples from a single grooming category, like shave cream, cologne, moisturizer, etc. These categories are selected according to the online profile you fill out at the start of your membership. It sounds like if you are already signed for up the Lifestyle Box (which I am) you will continue to receive that box. If you new to Birchbox, you can opt for the new Birchbox Man Beta or you can e-mail them (beta@birchbox.com) to get subscribed to the original Lifestyle Box. For some reason I can’t find any information about the new $10 Birchbox Man box on their site right now. I will keep you posted if that changes.
Birchbox Man ships via USPS (through Newgistics) and generally arrives during the first few days of the month or the last few days or the previous month.
My husband has been receiving Birchbox Man for almost as long as I have been receiving Birchbox and he has been quite happy with it over the years.
Birchbox Man previously offered a curated box option, but that is no longer the case. I loved having the choice between a curated box (where the items were revealed in advance) and the traditional Birchbox Man box, so I do hope they bring this back.
The Birchbox Man information card is now totally digital and can be located in your account online. The April 2016 Birchbox Man theme was “Fresh Cut” and included the following items:
~Bookman Clip-On Reflectors ($9): When I saw these in the box I was super excited. They are magnetic (and work almost like a paperclip), so you can clip them on to the arms of your shirt, the waistband of your shorts, your shoes, etc. B likes to run at night so they will be very useful.
~Vapur Eclipse Water Bottle Navy ($11.99): This was one of the lifestyle choice items this month. I never made my pick so this was selected for me. While I think the idea of a fold up water bottle is great, it’s just not practical for me. I hate that it leaves little water drops on the inside. Someone once mentioned freezing it between uses which is a great idea – if you can remember.
~Penhaligon’s No. 33 Cologne (1.5mL) ($2.18): As described by Birchbox “citrusy top notes of grapefruit and bergamot lead to heart notes of ginger and lavender, resting atop a warm base of amber, tobacco, and musk”. That makes it heavier than it is. I actually thought it was light and Spring-like. And B loves these little samples for traveling so it’s a win for us.
~Billy Jealousy Sucker Punch Facial Scrub (0.5fl.oz) ($3): I’m kind of jealous of this! It contains volcanic black sand and super scrubby. I wouldn’t use it daily – twice a week should be enough, and my husband said he could feel a difference in his skin after just one use.
~Supergoop!® Everyday SPF 50 with Cellular Response Technology (.34fl.oz) ($0.91): This is another great travel item. It’s an oil-free SPF 50 sunscreen. I have used this many times in the past and have always bee happy. Just use it in the morning and you’ll be set for hours.
~Kiehl’s Body Fuel All-In-One Energizing Wash for Hair & Body (1oz) ($2.38): I love when Birchbox includes Kiehls items. It’s an all-in-one hair and body cleanser and is another great travel bag item.
All totaled I came up with a value of $29.46 for the March 2016 for the April 2016 Birchbox Man box. Including the points for purchasing the box (20 points = $2) and the points for reviewing the products / sharing on Facebook (70 points = $7), the real value of this box is $36.46. I wasn’t head over heels for the lifestyle item, but even with it we thought the box was fabulous! Lots of great samples this month.
