ipsy April 2016 Subscription Box Review

ipsy sends its members a beautiful Glam Bag with 4-6 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products based on your ipsy profile. Their bags always have an incredible value (well over the $10 cost), and I am always amazed at how they do it. I don’t always love everything in the bags, but I always always think it was worth my $10.  They also offer a rewards system for subscribers.  You can earn points by reviewing the items you get in your bags, sharing your ipsy bag on social media, etc. You can then redeem your points for products (often items which were featured in previous months) on the ipsy website.

ipsy ships around the 10th of the month via DHL Global Mail. I generally expect to receive my package a week after they ship.

If they all fit, ipsy will ship all of you Glam Bag contents in that month’s bag.

The April 2016 ipsy theme was “dreamers” (I can never relate the theme to the products in the box) and contained the following items:

~The Bag: Love this bag!  It’s made out of almost a woven nylon type material and makes me think of all the upcoming summer music festivals with all the bright fun colors.

~tarte cosmetics LipSurgence™ lip crème in wonder (0.05oz) ($12): This can be used as a cheek or lip color.  The more you apply, the darker the color will be.  Applied lightly and it’s a sheer pink.  When you press harder or use a few coats it’s a much darker pink. I am more into a shiny lip, so I will be using a light hand with this and then putting clear gloss over it.

~Trust Fund Beauty That Glo Tho Face Highlighter (Full-Size / 0.15oz) ($20): Ohh, I didn’t realize that this would be full-sized!  Amazing! It’s a gorgeous highlighter that really does make you glow!  It’s also vegan and free of toxic chemicals.

~Crown Brush C427 Duo Fiber Blush Brush ($9.47): This brush is more soft than firm, so it’d probably work best as a general blush brush and not a contouring one or one you want to use in a small area.  I actually think it’d be great for loose bronzer too.

~Moroccanoil Treatment (0.34fl.oz / 10mL) ($6): Moroccanoil works on all hair types and is designed to condition, style and finish your hair.  I love the amount of shine it gives my hair and it does an amazing job at taming the flyaways.  If you have never used it before, make sure to use just a small amount to start.  I always find that a little bit goes longer than I expect it to.

~Jor’el Parker Fango Face Mask (30mL / 1fl.oz) ($3.86): This can be used on your face and body, but I think I am just going to stick with using it as a face mask. It’s a smooth mud (it’s not chunky like the GlamGlow mask is) and I did a patch test with it and could really tell the different on the spot I used the mask vs. the rest of my face.  The mask made it much softer.

~Swatches

All totaled I came up with a value of $51.33 for the April 2016 ipsy Glam Bag.  I feel like I got an amazing bag this month (not all subscribers will receive the same products as they are customized based on your profile) and the value was amazing!

Did you get this month’s ipsy bag? What variations did you get? And what’d you think? If you are interested in subscribing or want to learn more, click here. Oh and if you want to skip the Wait List (do they even still have one?), but don’t feel like sharing on Facebook (or don’t have a Facebook), e-mail ipsy Care and they will take you off the list and get you subscribed right away!
