Wine Awesomeness ($45/month) is your humble guide for buying, discovering and learning about wine. They are a modern, souped-up version of a wine club, taking WA Members on a themed, wine-fueled adventure each month (i.e., the Monthly Journey). Your expertly-curated wine (3 bottles) shows up at your door paired with their mini-magazine thebacklabel: a booklet containing awesome content, recipes, perfect playlists and articles to help you learn all about the vino you’re about to fall in love with.  Also available is a 6 bottle plan for $75/month. You are able to select your wine preference (red, white or combination) as well.  I opted for the combo box.

~Recuerdo Malbec 2012 100% Malbec: This malbec has notes of blueberry jam, ripe plum, cocoa dust, licorice and beef jerky.  It’s full bodied, a little fruity and not at all dry.  The pairing suggestion for this one is a Cowboy Rib Eye a La Plancha with a crispt brioche salad and grilled dates.  We didn’t try it, but this is a recipe we are for sure going to save and try later.

~Recuerdo Torrontes 2013: I am not at all familiar with the “Torrontes” grape.  According to the card it’s unique to Argentina and “exudes highly fragrant tropical scents” (I woudl agree with that).  I think this was my favorite of the three wines.  It was fruity, but not too sweet and had no acidity to it at all.  The pairing suggestion for this one was Grilled Red Bartlett Pears Wrapped in Iberico Ham which sound amazing.

~Calcu Cabernet Sauvignon Colchagua 2012: This cabernet sauvignon is full bodied with mild tannins and a midly fruity taste.  It has notes of cassis, peppercorns sweet tobacco, loam and licorice.  The pairing suggestion for this one is Pork Loin Chops with Thyme Oil and Roasted Grapes on the Vine.  My husband and I tried all of these with dinner last night and found all of them to be very drinkable and not too heavy.  I am really picky about my reds, but I did like this one.
