Birchbox Limited Edition: Sunny Side Review + Coupon Codes

Birchbox offers a $10/month beauty subscription service, but every once in a while they also offer limited edition boxes such as this one. This review is on the Birchbox Limited Edition: Sunny Side Box which is their latest special edition box.  Limited Edition boxes are a totally separate purchase from the monthly subscription.

From Birchbox:
We’ve been trying to fit summertime into a box for ages—and we finally accomplished our mission. Inspired by carefree afternoons and long weekends, this collection comes with sunny day essentials (think: durable sunglasses and a Turkish cotton beach towel), plus summer-ready products to help you channel your inner beach goddess. Hello, sunshine!

Hands down this is the cutest Birchbox box ever.  That says a lot too because they have had a ton of cute ones over the years.

The Birchbox Limited Edition: Sunny Side Box was inspired by carefree afternoons and long weekends and includes the following sunny day essentials, plus summer-ready products to help you channel your inner beach goddess:

~Cargo California Throwback Palette ($24.99): This is the coolest palette I have ever seen. It’s all magnetic (and it’s seriously magnetic) so it’s super easy to travel with.  It contains: 4 eyeshadow colors in Windsor, Mojave, Colombia and Aegean, Powder blush in Rome & Swimmables Water Resistant Bronzer plus 4 lip glosses in Pearl, Rose, Bronze and Copper. It has it all.  The colors are all very wearable and I am in love!

~Davines This Is a Sea Salt Spray (100mL / 3.38fl.oz) ($10.80): I love this spray and found that it left my hair with nice volume without being overly heavy. Plus it smells amazing! The bottle it arrived in looked like it’d been through a battle though. It didn’t have a cap (and the cap was nowhere to be found in the box), but more than that it had some sort of residue (it looked like dried foundation or eyeshadow) on it?  It makes no difference in using the product, but I found it odd.

~Kopari Coconut Body Glow (.5fl.oz / 15mL) ($6.18): I am not super into this smell (it’s like coconut, but it’s not quite coconut), but I love the shimmer it gave me.  Start with just a small amount of this and add more if needed.  It reminds me a bit of the NARS Body Glow actually.

~Knockaround Mai Tais Sunglasses in Clear/Green Moonshine ($20): I had no idea how much I would love these until I had them in my hands.  They are so fun for summer.  I have finally learned my lesson about buying super expensive sunglasses and prefer instead to pay $10 or $20 for them. I love the “fancy” ones, but I scratch them and lose them quite often, so it’s not practical.

~Living proof.® No Frizz Humidity Shield (50g / 1.8fl.oz) ($14): This works to block humidity and stop frizz. I don’t have too many issues with frizz, so I will be passing this one on to a friend. I get a lot of flyaways, but frizz isn’t an issue for me.

~Milk Makeup Blush Oil (Crave) ($26): I think this was the item in the box I was most excited to test out.  It’s a Blush Oil which is something I have never tried. You can apply it as light or as heavy as you want and it’s a great pop of color.  Plus, the rollerball applicator is amazing.  It dries quickly though, so make sure to blend rather quickly.

~Supergoop!® Everyday SPF 50 with Cellular Response Technology (1oz) ($7.92): Supergoop! makes great products and this is a great all around sunscreen.  I *think* the weather has turned a corner here (meaning it won’t be 30 degrees until the fall) and that means we will be going outside a ton.  This rubs in easily and doesn’t leave that white residue that a lot of sunscreens do.

~Turkish-T Birchbox Stripe Breeze Towel in Teal ($32): This towel is HUGE and could be used as a picnic blanket or towel.  It wasn’t as soft as many of the turkish towels I have tried but I am hoping it softens up in the wash?

~Birchbox Summer Pouch (~$10): The final item in the box was a Birchbox pouch. You can keep your phone and / or beauty products in there, plus there is a special pouch for your cards and id.

~Mystery Sample Pack: My mystery sample pack contained Templespa In Good Condition Hair Conditioner and Peter Thomas Roth Mega-Rich Body Wash.,

All totaled I came up with a value of $151.89 for the Birchbox Limited Edition: Sunny Side Box.  According to Birchbox this box has a value of $170, so a few of my estimates must be off. Either way it’s an amazing deal and a fantastic box!
