ipsy May 2016 Subscription Box Review

ipsy sends its members a beautiful Glam Bag with 4-6 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products based on your ipsy profile. Their bags always have an incredible value (well over the $10 cost), and I am always amazed at how they do it. I don’t always love everything in the bags, but I always always think it was worth my $10.  They also offer a rewards system for subscribers.  You can earn points by reviewing the items you get in your bags, sharing your ipsy bag on social media, etc. You can then redeem your points for products (often items which were featured in previous months) on the ipsy website.

ipsy ships around the 10th of the month via DHL Global Mail. I generally expect to receive my package a week after they ship.

My May 2016 ipsy bag contained the following items:

~The Bag: Subscribers this month received this bag in one of three colors – pink, purple or blue.  I didn’t have a preference because really, all of them are great!

~Pacifica Natural Mineral Coconut Eye Shadow Trio (.07oz) ($8.40): This trio includes Crush (beige), Skinny Dip (copper) and Lovely (brown).  They are gorgeous neutrals, but have enough shimmer so they aren’t boring.  All Pacifica products are gluten-free, 100% vegan, cruelty-free and budget friendly too.

~Glamour Dolls Gloss Snob in Twirl (12g) ($1.99): Gloss Snob is a “light weight, full coverage lip gloss”.  I don’t know that I agree that it’s “light weight”, but I did think it was full coverage.  I guess it’s not heavy as much as it’s creamy and highly pigmented.  I think it’s just too pigmented for me personally.

~Avene Micellar Lotion Cleanser and Make-up Remover (0.8fl.oz) ($2.37): This is a 3-in-1 no rinse cleanser, toner and make-up remover.  I have been using it mainly as a toner after I use my regular cleanser.  I am guessing you are supposed to use it as alone (not with another cleanser), but I like it better this way.

~Vera Mona Eye Smudger Brush (~$7): I couldn’t find a price for this online so I had to estimate. This smudger brush is firm enough to work, but soft enough not to irritate your skin. I feel like ipsy has been sending more and more tools lately and I am liking it!

~Smashbox X-Rated Mascara (.10 fl.oz) ($7.33): I can’t remember if I have tried this in the past, but if I have I didn’t remember how great it was.  I found it very volumizing and lengthening.  The formula wasn’t too thick and it was just a good all around mascara!

All totaled I came up with a value of $27.09 for the May 2016 ipsy Glam Bag.  Believe it or not, that is actually a fairly low value for ipsy.  I still thought it was worth the $10 and was pleased with my assortment of items.

I’m all for tools, but I need a brush break. I’ve gotten 7 in the past 9 months lol.

Ooh lucky you got the purple bag! I got pink and I do not like pink. Contents were good, the whale brush, the Pacifica eye trio, the mascara, the lip balm and a facial mask (not the paper ones, a mud one).
