GlobeIn Benefit Basket ($19.95/month) is a monthly subscription box featuring one handcrafted good from a remarkable, remote artisan to give them global reach. Each box is curated around a monthly theme selected by their editor with the aim of helping you experience new and interesting products and cultures. The GlobeIn Benefit Basket is a mini version of the popular GlobeIn Artisan Box ($40/month).
GlobeIn ships via USPS. Boxes ship on the 15th of the month (I received mine early for review purposes). Orders placed after the 15th of the calendar month will ship on the 15th of the following calendar month. If boxes sell out before the 15th your subscription will begin the following month.
When possible, all items are packaged inside of the basket.
The June 2016 GlobeIn Benefit Basket included the following items:
~Kitenge Tote by Wildlife Works, Kenya ($20): Wildlife Works works with local landowners in the developing world to monetize their forest and biodiversity assets whether they are governments, communities, ownership groups, or private individuals. This tote was made in Kenya and the print on it is absolutely incredible. I am not sure if it’s some take on an animal print or what, but I LOVE it. The tote itself is a fair size (it doesn’t have a flat bottom to give it extra room though) and would make a nice library / book bag.
~GlobeIn Signature Palm Leaf Basket from Oaxaca, Mexico ($12): Every GlobeIn Benefit Basket includes the signature palm leaf basket. Colors (and styles) do vary, but this is the “basket” portion of the box. They can be used for anything from storing toiletries in your bathroom to using as a gift box.
All totaled the June 2016 GlobeIn Benefit Basket had a value of $32. That’s just about the value I expect from this box and while I love the tote I am still hoping they eventually give subscribers the option to swap out the basket for a different item.
