Birchbox offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes to get some complete steals (which I try to do). Note: July is the last month samples will be able to be reviewed for points.  I have been subscribing to Birchbox for almost 4 years now and would say they are one of the most (maybe the most) well known subscription boxes out there. They are certainly one of the longest lasting boxes.

Birchbox ships via USPS and all boxes generally ship by the 10th of the month.

I used to have two accounts (I’d get the curated box option on one account and the “regular” box on my second account), but since Birchbox dropped their amazing point system, I went back to just one subscription. This review is on the July 2016 “regular” box.

Birchbox boxes are so pretty!  They change up the designs every month.  I actually saw someone on one of my local swap sites trying to sell their old Birchbox boxes for $1/each. I am not sure if they sold, but I’d save my boxes if I could sell them for $1 each.

My July 2016 Birchbox included the following items:

~Balance Me Radiance Face Mask (0.5fl.oz) ($6.80): This mask cleanses, exfoliates, and brightens skin all in just about 5 minutes.  I don’t know how much better my skin looked after using it, but it felt smoother and nourished.

~Cargo Blush (Catalina) (0.0525oz) ($4.27) / Cargo Bronzer (Medium) (0.0525oz) ($4.91) Duo: I gotta tell you, I think I have about 7000 of these.  It’s not that I don’t like it, because I do (both shades are very flattering), but I already have two in my stockpile and I have gifted a few as well.

~COOLA SPF 30 Organic Makeup Setting Spray (10mL) ($7.20): My box was missing this item (I knew it looked a little empty when I opened it up), but I contacted Birchbox and they are shipping it out.  I have tried it in the past and really enjoyed it.  It “sets” your look, hydrates skin and blocks UV rays.

~Smashbox Cosmetics X-Rated Mascara (~$8): This mascara uses Tripod fibers that stack on lashes for endless volume.  This is probably weird, but I much prefer travel-sized mascaras to full-size ones.  I never can get all the way through and entire tube and, if I do try to, I find that it gets all icky when it’s about 2/3 of the way though. Travel sized ones just stay fresher.  Anyway, this is a great mascara.  I only needed one coat and could so tell the difference.

~Oribe Shampoo and Conditioner for Brillance & Shine (~$2): I don’t hate packet samples, but I do at least wish I could get more than one use out of them.  It left my hair super soft (and not tangly like usual), but at $49/each for the full-size, this is likely the last time I will be using it ;).

~TOCCA Eau de Parfum – Bianca (~$1): Bianca is a clean, citrus scent with undertones of rose and sugar.  I LOVE it.  I basically love all TOCCA scents, but I LOVE this one the most.

All totaled my July 2016 Birchbox had a value of $34.18.  Nice value, but I wasn’t wowed by it.  Maybe it was because of the missing item? I know they will send it, but getting that first impression back is hard.  Also, I think I am still disappointed with the sudden point change which makes it hard to get super excited out this box.  Give me a few months to forget about the points and maybe I will have my second subscription back?

If you are interested in subscribing, Birchbox is offering up to $20 in Birchbox Shop points with new subscriptions.

~Use coupon code “FREE100” to get 100 free points (aka $10 to spend in the Birchbox Shop) when you purchase a monthly subscription.

~Use coupon code “FREE200” to get 200 free points (aka $20 to spend in the Birchbox Shop) when you purchase an annual subscription.

This Birchbox offer is only valid through 7.15.16, so take advantage now!

One of my products was opened and spilled, then reading other comments on MSA apparently some people got plain boxes! Are they not even trying anymore? Well they are making so much easier to say goodbye to.

I wasn’t wowed by mine either. I had hoped Birchbox would be amazing this month after the mass exodus last month.

I thought you could only review until July 10th? So we have the whole month to do reviews?

I went ahead and used up my last points and cancelled. Everything in my box was tiny, or a repeat of something I had gotten before. I just knew this box would be amazing to try to entice people to stay, but that wasn’t the case.
It just doesn’t seem like they are even trying anymore at ALL.

I was actually pretty happy with my box. It didn’t wow me but the sizes were the best I have had in a while. I got a clinique charcoal gel face wash in a deluxe size, loc lip gloss which I think is full size or dang near close and the same mascara as you. All which I am very happy with! I also got a Lulu hair powder which is good size but messy and smells awful and a sunscreen face mist. The mist also smells bad imo and left my face shinier after an hour. For once I did not get any tiny sizes.
