Yay! My July 2016 POPSUGAR Must Have Box is here!
If you aren’t familiar, POPSUGAR Must Have Box is an exciting box full of fun, must-have picks across fashion, beauty, home decor, fitness, and more, which is delivered to your door on a monthly basis. Boxes include full-size products and premium items including tried-and-true classics, celebrity favorites, and brands consumers have yet to discover worth over $100!
POPSUGAR Must Have Box ships via FedEx Smart Post and takes about a week to arrive (mine took less this month). They seem to ship in batches (no idea if there is any rhyme or reason to the order they use) so some people get their boxes delivered before other people have gotten shipping notices. Mine seemed to be in an early batch this month, but some months it comes way after everyone else gets theirs.
POPSUGAR was the first box I ever subscribed to (back in June 2012 before it even officially launched) and is still my favorite box. I LOVE them!
The July 2016 POPSUGAR Must Have Box was inspired by “Sunny * Retro * Fun * Vintage * Playful * Cheeky * Warm” and included the following items:
~Sachajuan Hair in the Sun ($29.99): This is a leave-in serum that protects your hair from damaging UV rays. It can be applied to wet or dry hair, so I put it in my (dry) hair to test it out. It left my hands feeling sticky, but not my hair. It has a light scent and a light styling hold. The best part is that it’s not going to come out of your hair until you shampoo it. You don’t have to reapply if you go to the beach / pool!
~House Of Pom Cocktail Napkins (Set of 6) ($25): When I first saw the spoilers for this box, I just assumed that all of the napkins matched. It turns out it’s a set of 6 emoji napkins! These napkins “capture the Summer experience in a language everyone can speak – emoji”! I have never owned cloth cocktail napkins before (or had any real desire to own any), but I have some now! They are really cute and I will make use of them.
~Michael Stars Porcelain Skinny Scarf In White ($30): I know some people weren’t overly excited about getting another scarf in a POPSUGAR box, but this isn’t like any scarf we’ve never received from PS. It’s 5 1/2 inches x 66 inches (so skinny) and would work well as a belt, in your hair, or yes, as a thin scarf to dress up an outfit. You could even tie it on your handbag or beach bag! It’s lightweight (55% cotton, 45% viscose) and everyone will receive this same print.
~Pintrill Pineapple Pin ($12): This pin is much smaller than I was anticipating. I had it in my head that this was about the size of a quarter, but it’s really dime sized. It’s tiny. The PopSugar Editors suggest using it to pin your scarf into place, but I am thinking about pinning it on my bag. I do still love pineapples, so I am happy about this.
~Sunnylife Inflatable Drink Holder Pool Float ($18): Totally my favorite item in the box. I see these at the store all the time and just walk past them because I do not own a pool. As ridiculous as it sounds, I am considering using it in the car for the kids. My husband’s truck has a ton of cup holders, but none that the kids can reach when they are hooked into their car seats. But this guy could sit in the middle between them and they could reach no problem. I just need to think of a name for him. Note: All subscribers will receive the swan.
~Oh My Brow! Brow Highlighter Crayon ($19): This highlighter crayons is a “jack-of-all-trades”. It works on your brow bone, on the inner corners of your eyes, on your cheekbones (is that were the “cheeky” in the theme comes in this month?) and even on your lips. The color is a gorgeous shimmery gold. Not too bold, but enough to know it’s there.
~Joe Chips Classic Potato Chips with Sea Salt ($1.49): These kettle chips are “an all-american classic”. My husband will likely eat these up tonight.
~Special Extra: $20 Trove Gift Card: The final item in the box was a $20 gift card to Trove. They offer on-trend customizable jewelry. They are on the spendy side so you will have to spend some money to make use of this code (as a result I didn’t include it in my total).
All totaled I came up with a value of $135.48 for the July 2016 POPSUGAR Must Have Box. I loved the variety in this month’s box and, as is usually the case with POPSUGAR, this box was a hit for me. I just think they are such fun boxes!

I admit that this wasn’t my favorite box. Not that I don’t like what’s in it, it’s just that some of the stuff I can’t really use.
Don’t plan on going to the beach (until Hawaii next year fingers crossed) and don’t have a pool so the Hair in the Sun and the Swan Drink Holder aren’t for me. I think they are great items though so I will have to find a friend who has a pool and gift them.
LOVE the cocktail napkins. Since we haven’t found our coasters yet, these are out for everyday use.
I like the scarf. I like that it’s thin, smallish. Works great to keep at work to throw on when the air-conditioner seems to be working overtime…just that hint of cover around the neck that works for me. Not a great fan of the print, but still like the scarf. But then I’m pretty much a scarf fanatic.
Those chips? I think I ate them before I’d finished unpacking the box…..
Though I like pineapples, the pin? Eh.
I misread the brow thing at first. As a woman of a certain age, the brows tend to start disappearing so I thought this was more of a brow cover. Not sure I could rock gold highlighter. This will probably sit for the next garage sale.
Not a great box, nothing wow’d me, but not a “holy crap this sucks what were they thinking?” box either.
When I first opened the box, I was so disappointed. I hated it. (And I love all of them! Even the mini.) I like to keep this as a complete surprise, I never look at the spoilers. MY reaction was- “Another scarf, seriously……. (Insert sad face)” – HOWEVER, It’s so little and looks amazing in hair! I do love it. 🙂 I don’t own a pool but the swan made an awesome gift already! The pin…. well….. I don’t even know what I’m doing with that yet. The box was just ok to me. I love that Pop Sugar never sends what I EXPECT them to send though, so I’ll take it. 🙂
I really enjoyed this box! The only thing missing was a great summer read – wouldn’t a Kindle or Nook code have been perfect? I love the scarf worn traditionally but also as a head band – it’s a great width and length. I also love the highlighter because it works excellently to brighten the inner eye. I swapped for a couple of extras of each.
