Birchbox August 2016 Subscription Box Review + Coupon Codes

Birchbox offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes to get some complete steals (which I try to do). Note: July was the last month samples were be able to be reviewed for points.  I have been subscribing to Birchbox for almost 4 years now and would say they are one of the most (maybe the most) well known subscription boxes out there. They are certainly one of the longest lasting boxes.

Birchbox ships via USPS and all boxes generally ship by the 10th of the month.

I used to have two accounts (I’d get the curated box option on one account and the “regular” box on my second account), but since Birchbox dropped their amazing point system, I went back to just one subscription. This review is on the August 2016 “Curated” box.

This curated box looked amazing!

The Birchbox August 2016 “Endless Summer” Featured Box included the following items:

~Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Oil (6mL) ($2.24): This oil treatment fight flyaways while also hydrating and smoothing both wet and dry hair.  It’s slippery, but it aborbs quickly and did everything it promised while also leaving my hair nice and shiny.

~Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle (No Size Listed) (~$3): This has appeared in many Birchbox boxes (curated and otherwise) over the years.  It locks in color, protects hair from heat damage, adds shine and also smells great. It’s a light sweet scent and have been a fan since Birchbox first sent it.

~Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina (0.05fl.oz) ($12): This goes on like a gloss, looks like a lipstick and stays on like a stain.  I tested it and the staying power is incredible.  I am going to need a layer of clear gloss on top, but I am loving the shade.

~Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow (0.24fl.oz) ($4.20): This BB cream gives your skin a beautiful glow while also covering imperfections.  It doesn’t feel like you have anything on your skin, but it made my skin look incredible.

~Acure Coconut + Argan Oil Cleansing Towelettes (12 Towelettes) ($2.80): I *almost* bought these at Target earlier in the week, but I resisted because I knew they were coming in here.  They remove oil and makeup, but can also be used to freshen up.  I love them. It’s been so hot and humid here all week (we are all SO over it) and these have been amazing.

~Bonus Item: Hum Nutrition Raw Beauty Green Superfood Powder: The box also included a bonus HUM Raw Beauty Powder.  It’s Mint Chocolate Chip flavored and helps boost energy, radiant skin and metabolim with raw organic greens, enzymes and probiotics.

All totaled my August 2016 Birchbox “Endless Summer” Featured Box had a value of $24.24.  That was about $10 less than my July box, but I liked this one a ton more.  I am still adjusting to the changes Birchbox has made, but I was pleased with this box.
