Mine Chest, the first official Minecraft subscription box, is a bundle of hand-picked, official, Minecraft goodies, delivered right to your doorstep each month. Exactly what’s included each month is a closely-guarded secret, but expect an exclusive t-shirt every month, exclusive items, a premium collectible chest, a unique project, and a selection of official collectibles.
Mine Chest ships on a monthly basis via USPS. They used to ship during the end of the month, but they now ship at the beginning of the month. Basically they “skipped” the July box, but the actual difference is only a matter of a few days shipping wise.
When my boys (they are 8 and 4) see the Mine Chest come in the mail – WATCH OUT! Sometimes I can sneak away and take pictures of it before they see it, but this month they both came out to the mailbox with me. I had to have them sit in the other room for a few minutes, take pictures really quick and then let them go to town. I always package it all back up, so they get the full unboxing experience. They rip it apart, divide the items and then I never see it again!
My older son (L) thinks the little theme cards that with the box are the coolest and keeps them on display in his room. The August 2016 Mine Chest theme was “Survive the Night” and included the following items:
~Offical Minecraft Shirt: L has declared this shirt the coolest one to date. Just like all the shirts that come in August 2016 Mine Chest theme was “Survive the Night”, it’s officially licensed and may even be an August 2016 Mine Chest theme was “Survive the Night” exclusive. L explained the scene for me, but I won’t even try to describe it. If you know Minecraft, you’ll know.
~Plush Minecraft Baby Zombie ($12.99): I think L gave this to W (my four-year-old son), but I can’t be sure. It’s 8.5″ and is just about as cute as a baby zombie gets.
~Minecraft Pin: This torch pin is awesome. I think it’s going to be a “display” item in L’s room, and W will probably want to wear it every once in a while too.
~Minecraft Stamp & Ink Pad: So far every Mine Chest has included a stamp and ink pad. This one is a sword, and my little one put it on his arm as soon as we opened the box. L uses it when he makes Minecraft “books” and has all the ones he has gotten in boxes on his desk on display.
~Mine Chest Exclusive Sticker: This “cool” sticker is now on the back of the laptop that the boys play Minecraft on. W wanted to put it on his shirt, but it’s so cool I wanted him to get more use out of it.
~DIY Crafting Recipe: This month’s crafting recipe includes instructions on how to turn your Mine Chest box into Zombie Armor. We think the boxes are fabulous as is, so we haven’t used any of the crafting recipes just yet.
Did you get the August 2016 Mine Chest? What’d you think? We are just loving it! Hands down it’s my son’s favorite box right now! If you are interested in subscribing (your first box will ship in September), you can get signed up here.
