The September 2016 Bokksu theme was “Kyushu: The Nine States” and included the following items:

~Mango Chiffon Cake: These cakes are made from real mangos from the city of Nojiri.  They are soft and fluffy absolutely delicious.

~Cruz by Obama Shokuryo: Cruz is a delicious harmony of white chocolate and ginger sandwiched between two wafers. I tried the strawberry one first and thought it was great.  I didn’t pick up much ginger.  It tasted like a very very thin wafer cookie.

~Kurobou Meimon: These look like a chocolate biscotti, but they are made with black sugar, 100%Kyushu Wheat, and eggs.  They appear to have the hard, crunchy texture of a biscotti, but they are actually soft on the inside. It’s a different taste for sure.

~Dondo Age Kyushu Soy Sauce Flavor: These are a crunchy snack made with rice flour and a savory and sweet soy sauce blend.  They are almost like a soy sauce puffed cracker?  Pretty tasty!

~Bontaname: These are sweet (citrus’ish) gummy candies. The wrapping is made out of a rice paper and is meant to be eaten.  That took a little getting used to (my kids were like what??), but we all enjoyed them.

~Kukicha: Kukicha translates into “twig tea” and is a green tea blend of stems, stalks, and twigs. It’s interesting… It doesn’t have the best smell, but I hear it’s great.
