The August 2016 Bon Appétit Box Snack Box included the following items:

~Fleur de Sel Caramel: As you can probably imagine, these sea salt caramels are incredible. They might be the softest, creamiest caramels I have ever eaten.  These are absolutely delicious.

~Trois Petits Cochon Petits Toasts: These are exactly what they sound like – mini pieces of toast.  They are crunchy (not quite as crunchy as croutons) and are meant to be paired with canapes or pate.  I also thought it paired well with Nutella.  Just saying.

~Kubli Berlingots: These are hard fruit-flavored candies. They are a French speciality and have been around for more than 170 years.  I have posted about my love for hard candy many times, and I loved these as well.  They had a true fruity flavor, and the flavor didn’t go away when you were halfway done as happens with some candies.

~Edmond Fallot Extra Fine Gherkins: These pickles are made from the smaller (and more potent) gherkin variety of cucumber.  The Fallot Family who makes these pickles has been in business in the Burgundy area of France since 1840.  I have never enjoyed pickles, but everyone who tried these at my house enjoyed them a ton!

~Rougie Périgord Duck Rillettes: The final item in the box was a duck pate, which is a speciality of southwest France. I don’t dislike pate (rillettes are re a preparation of meat similar to pâté), but it also wouldn’t be my first pick. This spread didn’t have an odd after-taste and would probably be pretty good on a piece of fresh toasted baguette.
