Julep September 2016 Subscription Box Review + Coupon Codes!

Julep is a monthly nail polish (and beauty) subscription service.  They offer a “My Maven” box for $24.99/month which contains $40+ worth of product and polish each month.  You are able to fully customize your box so you are guaranteed to receive only products you think you’ll love!

Julep ships via FedEx Smart Post out of Ohio and tends to take just a few days to arrive to me. You make your selections for the box between the 20th and 25th of the month, and you can expect to receive your box in the first few days of the next month. September shipped later than normal – likely due to the holiday.

Opening this box was almost like going spoiler-free.  I vaguely recall selecting items, but I couldn’t recall at all what was going to be included.

September 2016 marks Julep‘s 5th Anniversary / Birthday and featured the “Cheers to Five Years” collection.  I opted for the following:

~Cheers to Five Years! Polish Trio ($42): This set features three fall-like Wonder Maven shades – Acacia, Peggy & Genevieve.

~Acacia: Acacia is a blue fjord chrome.  It’s shimmery and, in another season, could be called mermaid green.

~Genevieve: Genevieve is a red rock chrome. I would call it almost a coppery rose shade?  It has amazing coverage is going on my nails in a few days.  Such a pretty shade for fall.

~Peggy: Peggy is a charcoal with rose shimmer.  This is the most intriguing shade of the bunch. It reminds me of these mood stickers we used to have in the 80’s (please tell me someone knows what I am talking about).  Every time I look at this, I see a different color.  The formula is a little on the thin side, so be careful with how much polish you end up with on your brush.

~Cheers to Five Years! Polish Trio Swatches:

~Julep Tote Bag ($4 / $6): This tote bag is smaller than it looks online!  It’s shoe-boxed sized and works for a change of clothes or to carry your lunch in.

~Add-Ons: As usual I opted for some add-ons this month.  I selected Sawyer (Copper patina molten), Mallory (a pink lotus crème) and Scout (phantom black shimmer).  Because I selected three add-ons, I received a free gift from Julep which was Elise (an indigo with purple microshimmer).  I am obsessed with Elise but am a tad scared to use it after reading all the reviews about how it stains your nails.

All totaled my September 2016 Julep had a value of $46 (that doesn’t include the add-ons as they are not included in the $24.99 cost of the box).  I’m happy with this box and am looking forward to getting all these colors on my nails this fall.
