Stitch Fix for Men September 2016 Subscription Box Review

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service for men and women. With Stitch Fix, you provide your style, size, and budget preferences, and they will send you a package of stylish goodies to try on at home. You only pay for the items you love and decide to keep. There is a $20 styling fee which is applied to your order should you decide to keep any / all of the pieces.  If you don’t keep anything, you don’t receive a refund of the fee. If you keep all of the pieces, you get a 25% discount on everything!  Also, I should mention that you are only charged once you “check out” at Stitch Fix.  You have a few days to try everything on, and the box comes with a bag and a prepaid USPS return label so you can easily ship back the pieces you aren’t interested in. Stitch Fix Men JUST launched a few weeks ago, and this is my first review ever on them (and my husband’s first ever box).

Stitch Fix for Men September 2016 Subscription Box Review

My husband’s (aka B) September 2016 Stitch Fix Men included the following items:

~Threads for Thought Baseline Indigo Henley ($68): I love this shirt!  It fit B perfectly, and the material was fantastic.  I do wish it was the price point was a tad lower, but it is a very nice high-quality shirt. Verdict: Kept (I think).

~Hawker Rye Essential Wash Long Sleeve Shirt ($58): I didn’t think much of this when I saw it in the box, but I loved it when B put it on.  It’s a slim fit shirt, but it wasn’t tight in the neck, and the sleeves were a perfect fit.  Verdict: Kept.

~Grayers Boatsman Heathered Henley ($78): This was another one that I just wasn’t sure about until B put it on.  I think he felt the same way. The collar seemed weird until B unbuttoned it and put it on.  The fabric was soft and somewhat lightweight, but it would still be enough to wear alone (or with a button down under it) on a chilly fall day.  He’s not sure if he needs it, though, so it may go back. Verdict: Returned (I think)

~Diamond Black Jack Corona Chambray Shirt ($48): Meh. B didn’t love this in the box, and he didn’t like it once he put it on either. The fit was nice, though. Verdict: Returned.

~Mavi Zach Straight Leg Pant ($98): These pants were another miss.  They ran a little big, but the main issue was the color.  They are an olive green and B just doesn’t have anything that will work with them. Verdict: Returned.

All in all, B was happy with his first Stitch Fix Men box.  He doesn’t have the time to shop, and this is such an easy way to add some pieces to his wardrobe.

Pretty solid first box. Olive is a neutral. He could wear it with any color he would wear khaki with.

Hi Jennifer. I kind of have an issue. I ordered the box for my husband. It was delivered today. We live in a condominium, we were not home at the time so the box was delivered to the sales office. The office is closed on a Sunday. They open on Monday and we can’t pick up package until Monday. On the account it says we need to checkout tomorrow (Sunday)
My question we can’t checkout we have not received the items yet. If we wait until Monday will we be penalized?

    1. Jennifer

No! Not at all. They are very lenient with the return date. You’ll get many emails over a 1-2 week period reminding you to checkout, asking if everything is okay, etc before you end up keeping charged for keeping everything. They are really good about it! Don’t worry at all!

Thank you so much for your reply. I just never been in the situation before. I was just worried that somehow we will be charged for all 5 items.

I actually really like how the Diamond Black Jack Corona Chambray Shirt looked on him. Everything else they choose for him was pretty good too. I didn’t know they have a version for men. Now I know. Thanks.

My husband got his first box January 2016. We loved all the items but the Threads 4 Thoughts tshirt, he’s not a long sleeve tshirt kind of guy. The Warp + Weft jeans fit him amazingly but we just bought him 5 new pairs of jeans and he dresses up for work we couldn’t justiff another one to be worn once a month at best. We kept the socks and the Jackson greenfield textured cotton blazer. Loved the Hawker Rye Essentials Washington button but it was tight in the chest and loose in the arms so we returned it. But all in all awesome 1st box and we both get our next one Feb 28th. Can’t wait to see what he gets! We (I) have been working on his pintrest board, I’ve found it helps my stylist with my boxes.
