Birchbox
Cost: $10/month
Ships To: United States.
Coupon Code: Subscription Box: See below.
Birchbox offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes to get some complete steals (which I try to do). Note: July was the last month samples were be able to be reviewed for points. I have been subscribing to Birchbox for over four years now and would say they are one of the most (maybe the most) well-known subscription boxes out there. They are certainly one of the longest lasting boxes.
Birchbox ships via USPS and all boxes generally ship by the 10th of the month.
This review is on the October 2016 “regular” Birchbox. I did a review on the October Curated box here.
You can peek at your Birchbox online by the 10th of the month to see what you are getting!
My October 2016 Birchbox included the following items:
~Hustle Butter Luxe (No Size On Package) (~$3): This was originally designed to heal tattoos, but it also works as a facial moisturizer, makeup remover, hand cream, and even as a sunburn healer. It is super rich and very hydrating. Great for winter.
~Juice Beauty Cleansing Milk (0.5oz) ($1.70): This plant-based cleanser cleanses and removes makeup. It doesn’t lather which I don’t love, but it did the job.
~MAKE Silk Cream Lipstick – Magnolia (~$3): I received this same sample in my curated box this month. I mentioned it in that review, but I am not a lipstick person, so I will be passing this on to my SIL.
~Oribe Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse (0.8oz) ($5.33): This mousse added volume and texture without leaving my hair crunchy or stiff. Plus is smells great.
~Tata Haper Resurfacing Mask (7.5mL) ($14.50): This mask was my sample choice item this month, and I love it! It made my skin glow. It smells good, it’s easy to use, and it really gives results. I need more of this ASAP!
All totaled I came up with a value of $27.53 for my October 2016 Birchbox. The Tata Harper mask alone makes this box a winner for me. Everything else was just a bonus.
New subscribers can use coupon code “SMASHDUO” to get a FREE Smashbox Photo Finish Primer and X-Rated Mascara with all new Birchbox subscription purchases! Note: Your subscription will begin with the October box.
I rarely ever do a sample choice or curated box. I just let them pick for me. The only thing I got the same was the cleansing milk. I also got Air Repair eye cream, Clarins Multi- active day moisturizer, LOC one & done shadow stick, and Parlor curl cream. I have to say this is one of my best months with Birchbox. I am trying to decide between keeping this or Glossybox.
I am really excited for the curated box! The only thing is the lip color is a bit disappointing. Barbie pink doesn’t really say fall to me, and it’s not really in my shade wheelhouse either. Would have appreciated a deeper color so much more.?
