Julep October 2016 Subscription Box Review + Coupon Codes!

Julep is a monthly nail polish (and beauty) subscription service.  They offer a “My Maven” box for $24.99/month which contains $40+ worth of product and polish each month.  You are able to fully customize your box so you are guaranteed to receive only products you think you’ll love!

Julep ships via FedEx Smart Post out of Ohio and tends to take just a few days to arrive to me. You make your selections for the box between the 20th and 25th of the month, and you can expect to receive your box in the first few days of the next month.

I was really looking forward to this box.  I’m so ready for fall polish shades!

The October 2016 Julep featured the “Dark and Stormy Nights Collection.”  I opted for the following:

~Jean (Classic With A Twist) ($11.20 / $14): Jean is a Black Cherry Crème.  It has a great formula, and I only needed one coat for my nails.  Usually, I need 2-3, but one coat of this did the trick.  And, unlike some Julep polishes I have tried lately (I’m looking at you Elise), this one didn’t stain my nails at all.

~Katya (Classic With a Twist) ($11.20 / $14): Katya is an Açai Berry Crème.  It’s deeper than Jean, and again I needed only one coat.  I loved the formula on this one too.  Just a note – Julep polish formulas are not consistent between shades.  Sometimes you’ll find your polish is on the thinner side and sometimes it’s a tad thick.  Other times, like with this one, it’s just perfect. The reviews on the Julep site have great notes about the consistency of individual shades.

~Desiree (It Girl) ($11.20 / $14): All boxes this month (regardless of your selection options) included Desiree!  Desiree is a High-Gloss Holographic Top Coat.  When swatched alone it doesn’t look like much, but you can see the shimmer much better when swatched over polish.

~Night Shift Deep Sleep Facial Mask ($27.20 / $34):  The Night Shift Deep Sleep Facial Mask is designed to give you a brighter, smoother, and firmer complexion while you sleep.  It’s to be used 1-2 times per week and should be rinsed off in the morning.  So far I am happy.  My skin feels moisturized, and I didn’t have any breakouts after I used it.  I didn’t realize that this product was released a while back as well.  I thought it was a new one for October.  No matter, I still like it.

~Swatches:

~Add-Ons: As usual I opted for some add-ons this month. I opted for Lolo, the “October Mystery Polish” and the “Taffy Mystery Polish.”  Because I selected three add-ons, I received a free gift from Julep, which was another polish.  I’m not sure which are the Mystery Polishes and which are the gifts, but I received Alexa, Colton, and Fifi in addition to Lolo.

All totaled my October 2016 Julep had a value of $60.80 (that’s using discounted Maven pricing and doesn’t include the add-ons as they are not included in the $24.99 cost of the box).  I thought this was a fantastic month.  I loved the colors, and the mask is great!
