Mantry (aka the Modern Man’s Pantry) is a bi-monthly food club that lets you discover the finest American artisan foods – and gives you ideas of what to do with them. Mantry has recently made some changes and has decreased (yes, decreased) the price of their boxes from $75 to $49. Boxes will now ship bi-monthly instead of monthly. Your first shipment will also include a Welcome Pack valued at $55.
Mantry ships via USPS. Your first box will ship within 2-6 business days after order date. Orders arrive in a handmade wooden crate which is one of my favorite parts about Mantry.
Ohh, this looked like a great one!
The October 2016 Mantry theme was “Tailgate World Tour.”
In addition to product information, the card also includes recipes and suggestions on how to use the products you’ve received. The October 2016 Mantry included the following items:
~Dave’s Sweet Tooth Toffee (Coffee Toffee) ($5.99): So many things. First of all this stuff is pretty much made in my backyard! I’ve heard of it before, but I had no idea how local this was until now. Second of all, B’s (my husband) obsessed. He loved this. It’s not break-your-teeth hard like some toffee is. It’s chewy and flavorful and everything you’d want from a toffee. It doesn’t contain any artificial syrups or flavorings, is made with all natural ingredients and is gluten-free.
~Lush Nuts Dark Chocolate Chili ($6): B said he wouldn’t go out of his way to have these again, but he does plan on finishing up the pouch ;). Ingredients include Spanish peanuts, Cane sugar, Dark cocoa powder, Sea salt and Chili powder.
~Trois Petits Cochons Saucisson Sec (~$10): This is (well was) delicious. I almost wish I would have saved it for a big meat and cheese platter, but it was just as good on a random weeknight. Not too spicy, but tons of flavor.
~Sutter Buttes Extra Virgin Olive Oil ($12): This is described as “smooth with a hint of pepper for a bold finish”. B will use it in all of the delicious dishes he cooks up. Mantry suggests using this in fish tacos, but I think it would be great in anything and everything.
~Pacific Pickle Works Bloody Mary Elixir ($8.95): A Bloody Mary while tailgating is actually quite delicious! This is made from scratch with all natural ingredients, and while I didn’t make a “real” drink with it, the mix itself is very tasty!
~Acanela Tandoori Rub ($12): This spice is a blend of organic cumin seed, mustard seed, turmeric, paprika, coriander powder and fenugreek leaves. Mantry suggests mixing this with yogurt and honey for a fantastic chicken marinade. I am all for that. Sounds delicious!
All totaled I came up with a value of approximately $58 for the October 2016 Mantry. I love that they lowered their box price and, as usual, the curation of this box is on point. The value exceeds the cost of the box plus you get the cool wood crate!
