Birchbox
Cost: $10/month
Ships To: United States.
Coupon Code: Subscription Box: See below.
Birchbox offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes to get some complete steals (which I try to do). Note: July was the last month samples were be able to be reviewed for points. I have been subscribing to Birchbox for over four years now and would say they are one of the most (maybe the most) well-known subscription boxes out there. They are certainly one of the longest lasting boxes.
Birchbox ships via USPS and all boxes generally ship by the 10th of the month.
This review is on the November 2016 “regular” Birchbox. I didn’t purchase / subscribe to the Curated Box option this month.
My November 2016 Birchbox “Finishing Touches” box included the following items:
~Marcelle New-Age LumiPOWER 3-in-1 Moisturizer (0.23fl.oz) ($3.52): This moisturizer is designed to fight the signs of aging and fatigue, protect skin from environmental stressors, and give your skin a radiant glow. I didn’t notice anything overly special about it. It bills itself as a day cream, night cream, and eye cream all in one and while I thought it worked as a day cream, I didn’t think it worked for me as a night cream.
~Coastal Scents® Blush & Bronzer Palette (~$2): This palette includes the “One Blush” and “One Highlighter.” I liked the colors, but I found the highlighter texture to be almost chunky? Maybe I just need to use a different brush?
~TokyoMilk Light And Soul Eau De Parfum (~$1): This scent has notes of oolong tea leaves, bamboo reed, orchid, and white musk. I wasn’t a big fan of the scent, but I did appreciate that it came in a sprayer!
~Number 4™ Fluoro5 Elixer Restore & Repair Oil (0.5fl.oz) ($6.50): Love this stuff! It’s to be applied to wet hair and gives your extra moisture and shine. It worked amazingly on my straight / color treated hair. Just a note – a little goes a long way!
~Chella Eyebrow Pencil ($20): As usual, my brows are in rough shape right now and are in serious need of some grooming. Once I work on that (and overpluck as I usually do), this will probably come in handy. I still haven’t hopped on the brow pencil train for daily use, but they do serve their purpose.
~Swatches:
All totaled I came up with a value of $33.02 for the November 2016 Birchbox. It was just a meh box for me. The value was there, but nothing about it really excited me.

The moisturizer is definitely not hydrating enough to be a night cream! I tried it last night and about 30 minutes went back and applied my night lotion over it. I have it on right now though and like it.
Totally agree!
