My Pretend Place is a quarterly Dress Up Play subscription box for children aged 3-6. Each box includes dress-up costumes, activities or crafts, and other pretend play inspiration. You can select a subscription by gender, or you can build your own subscription and select which themes you’d prefer for each quarter.
The My Pretend Place Dress Up subscription ships every three months. Your first month you will receive the dress-up package and the 2nd and 3rd months you will receive additional themed activities and inspirational content related to your dress-up theme. Shipments the 2nd and 3rd months are absolutely FREE and are included in the cost of the subscription.
W, my 4 year-old, was SO excited to dig into this.
The November 2016 My Pretend Place Dress Up theme was “Fire Chief” and included the following items:
~Melissa & Doug Fire Chief Role Play Set ($22): My Pretend Place generally includes a Melissa & Doug Role Play Set. This month’s set was the adorable “Fire Chief” and I think it’s our favorite ever. It comes with a jacket, helmet, badge, fire extinguisher, bullhorn and reusable name tag. W (my 4-year-old) couldn’t wait to get it all out on. He was so excited. It’s designed for ages 3 – 6 and it fit him perfect. He could have worn this as a Halloween costume if he had arrived a few weeks ago.
~Big Frank’s Fire Truck ($3.99): My Pretend Place always includes a book relating to that month’s theme. In this book, Big Frank explains all the jobs of a firefighter and the important work they do.
~Firetruck Project: This is adorable! I am saving it for a snowy / rainy day, but it involves painting and a truck, so how could we go wrong?
~Fire Power Super Fire Hose With Back Pack ($13.29): This backpack was the real star of the box! You can fill it up with water and it actually sprays! It’s too chilly to play with water outside, so W tested it out in the bathtub. He’s obsessed!
~Firefighter Shipment #2: The additional shipments will come with USPS for subscribers, but My Pretend Play included them in the review box for me. The envelope included a fun sticker set and a “Douse The House” suggested activity.
~Firefighter Shipment #3: The third shipment includes additional activity ideas relating to the Firefighter theme plus a Jr. Firefighter Certificate of Completion.
All totaled I came up with a value of $39.28 for the November 2016 My Pretend Place Dress Up. That doesn’t include the value of the craft or the additional monthly activity mailings. Also, I should note that I used online (not retail) prices for my calculations.
