Birchbox Review - December 2016 Box + Coupon Codes

Birchbox offers 4-6 (sometimes more) hand-picked beauty and lifestyle samples, delivered to your door each month. You can review the samples you receive on a monthly basis to earn points in their shop, which makes the “real” cost of the box even less. Points accumulate until you are ready to spend, so you can stockpile and combine with coupon codes to get some complete steals (which I try to do). Note: July was the last month samples were be able to be reviewed for points.  I have been subscribing to Birchbox for over four years now and would say they are one of the most (maybe the most) well-known subscription boxes out there. They are certainly one of the longest lasting boxes.

Such a pretty box this month!  This review is on the December 2016 “regular” Birchbox. I didn’t purchase/subscribe to the Curated Box option this month.

The December 2016 Birchbox included the following items:

~ARDENCY INN MODSTER Smooth Ride Supercharged Eyeliner (0.028oz) ($14): This is a creamy, waterproof liner.  It goes on smoothly and evenly and gives you a bit of time (less than a minute) to blend before it “sets” in place.  I’m just not a big eyeliner wearer, so I will be passing this along to a friend.

~Hey Honey Walk the Walk Propolis Foot Cream (25mL) ($3.83): Foot cream is something that we don’t get enough of in subscription boxes.  It smells good (it’s got a peppermint scent), is very moisturizing and isn’t greasy at all.  It’s also paraben-free.

~Kensie Eau de Parfum (2mL) ($1.59): Kensie smells super sweet at first, but when it dried I picked up a lot of vanilla and musky notes in it.  It’s amazing.  I just wish that the sample had a sprayer.  I am more apt to use perfume samples when they have a sprayer attached.

~R+Co BADLANDS Dry Shampoo Paste (0.25oz) ($3.19): This is formulated with Hawaiian volcanic ash to keep your scalp clean and balanced.  It’s different (it feels like a paste, but turns into a powder when you rub it), but it works!  It also makes for a great texturizer.  My hair gets a lot of static in the winter from wearing scarves and hats, but this has helped cut down on the crazy flyaways.

~Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel (~$3): This is amazing. You put it on your skin and then gently massage it off. The mask will come off along with dead skin cells, dirt, etc.  It’s not harsh and is designed to be used weekly.

~Free Gifts: All boxes this month also included a sheet of gift labels and a Birchbox pocket mirror.  These don’t count towards the number of products in your box and are simply bonus gifts given to all subscribers this month.

All totaled I came up with a value of $25.61 for the December 2016 Birchbox.  Not a huge value, but this box was a great fit for me.
