As soon as I opened this box, I was impressed! It was packed full, and the products looked to be generously sized.
The Winter 2016 Merkaela theme was “Solstice.” The Winter Solstice Box featured the following collection of handcrafted personal care products that are specifically formulated to enhance the most important relationship in your life – the one you have with yourself:
~Evergreen Soap (3.5oz) ($8.50): When I think of an evergreen scent I tend of think of a Christmas tree smell. This was more of an outdoorsy nature pine (with a hint of Frankincense) which I liked more for a soap.
~Venus Body Butter (4oz) ($21): Like all Merkaela branded products this was handmade in New York City. It was cold when my box arrived, so the body butter was a bit more solid than it usually is. It softened up and was amazing on my rough knees and elbows. The scent is a blend of Rose, Ylang Ylang, Frankincense, and Pine. It wasn’t overpowering, but I am not sure I would want to use it all over my body.
~Venus Body Exfoliator ($9.50): This sugar scrub is a blend of Frankincense, Rose, Ylang-Ylang and Pine essential oils. It’s amazing. The aromatherapy component is said to help with anxiety and depression, while Vitamin E and Agave calm skin irritation and inflammation. All good things. Plus it made my skin feel amazing.
~Venus Mineral Bath (8oz) ($14): The Merkaela Mineral Bath promotes feelings of wellness and personal happiness. It’s supposed to alleviate pain and soothing aching muscles. The instructions call for a cup of this and recommend that you dissolve it while running your bath.
~Nuture Lip Balm ($4): This lip balm is a nourishing blend of Sunflower Oil, Beeswax, Cocoa and Shea Butters, Vitamin E, and Aloe Vera. It smelled great and was very moisturizing.
~Raven Tea Potion (2oz) ($7.70): This caffeine-free organic herbal tea has a ton of great benefits including increased relaxation and mental clarity.
~Honey Clay Face Mask ($7): This was messy to apply, but I just loved it! My skin looked bright and felt amazing after just one use!
~Cedar Smudge Stick ($4.40): I haven’t used a smudge stick yet because I am afraid I am going to mess it up. With a “clear mind and good intentions” ignite your smudge stick and allow it to burn for about 30 seconds. After, you walk through your workplace, home, car, or anywhere you would like to clear the air. My stick was really “lose” and dropped the little cedar pieces every time I touched it, which is another reason I haven’t used it.
~Clear Quartz Pendulum ($8.50): The final item in the box was a clear quartz pendulum. You can use it to tap into surrounding energies, ask questions, and seek guidance. I am intrigued by this and am gong to have to do some research on stand figure out how to use it!
All totaled I came up with a value of $84.60 for the Winter 2016 Merkaela “Solstice” box. This subscription impressed me. All of the products were high quality, and I love that everything is made in the US!
