Play! by Sephora Review - January 2017

Play! has been doing a lot of variations in their boxes and I am always anxious to see what I get.

My January 2017 Play! by Sephora included the following items:

~The Bag: I usually don’t comment on the bag the items come in, but this one was too neat NOT to comment on.  It’s a vinyl-like material and has a mesh back.  If your bikini is tiny enough (no judgment) this would be a fun little storage bag!

~it Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream (4mL) ($4.75): I don’t even know what to say.  This is the holy grail of cc creams, and if you aren’t using it, I suggest you go out right now and get some.  It’s your skin, but better!  It’s lightweight and doesn’t feel like you don’t have anything on your skin.  And really, it doesn’t look to others like you have a heavy face of makeup on either, which I love.  Plus it’s got a built-in SPF 50, so you can’t go wrong.

~Tory Burch Love Relentlessly (~$1):  Love Relentlessly has notes of Pink Pepper, Rose, Orris & Sandalwood.  It’s not too strong (or too weak), and I am pretty much in love.  Plus the little sample has a built-in sprayer so it’s easy to use and you don’t have to worry about it spilling.

~OUAI Treatment Masque (15mL) ($6.67): This is an amazing mask for your hair.  You put it on dry hair before showering and then rinse off five to ten minutes later.  I only used 1/2 the bottle and was pleased with the results, but they recommend using the full tube if your hair is in super rough shape.

Play! by Sephora Review - January 2017

~Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey ($12.24): This is another holy grail/cult classic.  The Black Honey shade has been around forever, and it looks good on everyone.  It’s hydrating like a gloss but has the pigmentation of a lipstick.  Totally fantastic!  Also, when did Sephora start selling Clinique?

~Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream (5mL) ($6): This felt like such a luxury.  It’s called a whipped cream, but it’s SO thick and rich.  I thought it would be almost “fluffy,” but it was not.  Although it was thick, it wasn’t heavy or greasy.  And it’s formulated without Parabens, Sulfates, and Phthalates.

~tarte FRXXXTION Stick (0.22oz) ($4.84): This stick is probably the most interesting item in this box.  Maybe the most interesting item I’ve received this month?  It’s an exfoliating gel cleanser.  I swatched it so you could see the color/texture of it.  It can also be used as a 10-minute mask.  This is a great travel item – no spills!

All totaled my January 2017 Play! by Sephora had a value of $35.50.  This was another great month from Play! and I don’t think I have gotten a “miss” box from them yet.

Ok so I was super confused about the hair masque when I got it. It didn’t say whether or not to shampoo after using it. The directions on the OUAI website totally contradict Sephora’s directions: HOW TO USE

Smooth evenly through hair, combing with fingers if needed. Chill out for 5-10 minutes, then rinse. Super coarse strands? Use daily after shampooing.
I tried reading through the Q&A on Sephora for this masque and seems like I’m not the only one who was super confused lol. I ended up using half on my dry hair, shampooing then applying a light conditioner just to my ends. I noticed no difference. Next I’ll try it after shampooing.

Well, now I am going to have to wait a few weeks and try it after shampooing! I’m glad I only used half!
