The June 2017 Freedom Japanese Market included the following items:
~Pizza & Salad Umaibo: Umaibo is a puffed corn snack. They come in different flavors and this month’s box included salad and pizza flavored ones. The pizza had a bit of a kick to it which I liked, while the salad was less flavorful (but still good). I’m not sure what it tasted like, but I wouldn’t call it salad?
~Sono Manma Peach: I had no idea this was gum? Or peach flavored for that matter. LOL! I thought it was a soft strawberry candy. LOL! The information card says that one of the gumballs is super sour, but luckily I didn’t get that one ;).
~Banana Man: Banana Man is a banana flavored marshmallow with a chocolate center. It has the consistency of a circus peanut, but with a chocolate filling. I loved it!
~Tohato Caramel Corn: This caramel corn is vanilla ice-cream flavored. It’s not your traditional caramel corn; it’s actually a puffed corn – not a popcorn. I could have eaten this entire bag.
~Konpeito: These are “traditional Japanese sweet, colorful balls of sugar.” They taste basically as you’d expect – like sugar. My children loved them. LOL!
~Yakiniku Texas Corn: Korean BBQ flavored puffed corn is better than I thought it would be. The unexpected BBQ / puffed snack combo is delicious. I didn’t want to eat the entire bag, but I liked them.
~Mike Popcorn: This is a lemon and pepper popcorn. I can’t say that I have ever had lemon flavored popcorn before? It’s interesting. My mom was here when I was opening this box and was a big no on it. I’m not sure though. I didn’t love it, but I couldn’t stop eating it either.
~Karappa: These are corn puffed rings with the taste of fried soba noodles. I thought these tasted like Funyuns which made them a winner in my book.
~Minivita C: These mini hard candies give you your daily dose of Vitamin C. I really couldn’t pick out a flavor on these??
~Nericcho Soft: This DIY kit lets you make your own strawberry ice cream cones. You just add water (how much is always a little confusing because it’s not in English) and enjoy.
~Bin Ramune: I don’t know how else to describe this other than calling it an ice-cream cone of sugar. Because that’s what it is! Flavored sugar, but still sugar. If these sold these locally, they’d be my children’s favorite snacks.
~Awa Moko Moko: I am glad this box has an information card because this is a drink powder – I thought it was a sugar powder similar to FunDip! It’s melon flavored and quite good!
