Sports Crate MLB Subscription Review (Detroit Tigers) - July 2017
Sports Crate will send you 5-7 officially-licensed, team-specific items every month that you can’t get anywhere else, including gear, collectibles and a whole lot more.  Crates will be delivered monthly during the baseball season (May – September).  Subscribers may also find a “Golden Ticket” in their box, which wins you a VIP experience (Ride the bus with your favorite team, attend batting practice, sit next to your favorite player or throw out the first pitch) with your selected team.

Sports Crate
Cost: $39.99/month.
Ships To: United States
Coupon Code: N/A

Sports Crate shipped via FedEx Smart Post and, once shipped, took about a week to arrive. It shipped much later than normal and instead of receiving it mid-July (which is when I *think* it should arrive) I received it on August 19th. For reference, the June box arrived on July 7th.  The May box was late as well.

No Golden Ticket in here ;(.

The front of the information card is designed to look like a ticket, and it includes product details, a Sports Crate welcome, and information on their Golden Tickets.  The July 2017 Detroit Tigers “Round Tripper” Sports Crate included the following items:

~Miguel Cabrera Action Figure: This month’s BALLERS action figure (for the Tigers) is Miguel Cabrera.  BALLERS figures feature 21 points of articulation, so you can bend and pose them however you like.  I can’t really explain why, but these just don’t do it for me.  I am sure some people love them, but I personally would prefer fewer points of articulation and more of a true bobblehead look?  Also, I don’t really think this looks like Miggy?  I’ll give that a pass though because bobblehead and the like generally aren’t super life-like.

~Tigers Sun Shade: We were excited to get this as we’ve never gotten a sun shade in a box before, but we can’t get it to stay up in the window.  Not sure of there is some sort of trick with this or if B’s truck just doesn’t work for sun shades or if it’s just us (this totally could be the case)?  I will give it a try in my car if he can’t get it to work.  Much to our surprise, it folded up easily, and we do love the design.

~“Hit the Road” Shirt: This *might* be my favorite Sports Crate item to date. It’s fantastic!  It features Michigan and the Old English D on the front with a Tigers / MLB emblem on the back and “On a Mission from Motor City” on the back.  I feel like it should say “On a Mission from THE Motor City,” but either way, I liked it and wore it today!

~Topps Trading Card: Every Sports Crate includes a Topps trading card, and this one featured the Tiger’s Round Tripper – Miguel Cabrera.  According to the information booklet, this is card #3 of 5 for the season.

~Tigers Wallet: This wallet is 100% genuine leather.  It’s very soft and has lots of spots for your cards, ids, etc.  It features an embossed logo on the front, so you can show your Tigers pride anywhere you are.

Most (all?) of the items in this box are exclusive to Sports Crate, so I was unable to do a cost breakdown.  There were five items in here, which works out to about $8 each.  It’s probably not a huge “value” subscription, but I do think I got my money’s worth. That said, I canceled this box.  I gave them my standard three months (I always try to give a box at least 3-months before I make a decision) and it seems like shipping just got later and later, without a ton of communication or reasons.  Hopefully, they can get things on track because I do like the contents of this box and would love to resubscribe next season!
