The July 2017 Freedom Japanese Market included the following items:

~Sugar Rusk and GyuTan Umaibo: Sugar Rusk is a twice baked sugary bread flavored puffed corn while GyaTan is a Cow Tongue flavored.  Yep, you read that right.  For whatever reason I decided to sample these before I read the descriptions.  Probably for the best as I never would have tried the GyaTan had I known what it was. Spoiler Alert – it wasn’t good.   LOL!  I don’t know what cow tongue tastes like, but the Umaibo was an interesting combination of salty and spicy.  The Sugar Rusk was great though.  Very tasty and I would certainly have that again!

~Ichigo Mugi: These are strawberry flavored chocolates.  Quite tasty and the kind of snack you could eat an entire bag of without realizing.

~Onigiri Senbei: Soy sauce flavored rice crackers shaped like rice balls.  They were more triangles than balls, but they were soy sauce flavored.  Not bad, but not the best either.

~Lucky Cone: These don’t have much of a flavor other than salt, but I loved them.

~Cream Collon: Stop everything. These are amazing.  They are light and flakey and have an incredible lemon flavor.  I’d say they rank in the top 10 subscription box snacks ever.

~Suica no Tane Ramune: Watermelon flavored ramune candies that look like seeds.  They didn’t look like watermelon seeds to me, but I liked the flavor!

~Uracara Corn: These have popped up in a few Freedom Japanese boxes in different flavors, and I love trying them.  These particular ones are garlic flavored, and I couldn’t get enough. These are another snack I would love to see sold in the US.

~Gummy Vitamin C: Your daily dose of Vitamin C in a gummy!  I’m game for these!

~Cocoa Bolo: I found Cocoa Boloto be similar to Cocoa Puffs, with a tad less flavor.  Still yummy though!

~Umi no Ikimono Gummy: We have the worst luck with making gummy snacks.  I think our water ratio is off?  They are always fun to attempt though.

~Ostumami Time: Another soy sauce flavored snack!  The shape makes them look almost like walnuts, but they are a crunchy rice snack.

~Soda Gum: This is a long stick of soda flavored gum!  I don’t even like gum, but I liked this!

I didn’t do a cost breakdown on this box, but I loved the variety!  What do you think of Freedom Japanese Market?  If you are interested in subscribing, you can check them out here.
