ipsy Review - January 2018
ipsy sends its members a beautiful Glam Bag with 4-6 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products based on your ipsy profile. Their bags always have an incredible value (well over the $10 cost), and I am always amazed at how they do it. I don’t always love everything in the bags, but I always always think it was worth my $10.  They also offer a rewards system for subscribers.  You can earn points by reviewing the items you get in your bags, sharing your ipsy bag on social media, etc. You can then redeem your points for products (often items which were featured in previous months) on the ipsy website.

ipsy bags have a ton of variation, so they don’t include product details on their information card. If you happen to stumble on this review, don’t be surprised if you end up with an entirely different bag. Specific details on the items in your bag can be found in your ipsy account online.

The January 2018 ipsy theme is “Game Face, ” and my Glam Bag included the following items:

~The Bag: This month’s bag is quite interesting.  It’s a squishy mesh material and seems like it would be more appropriate for a summer ipsy?  In fact, it’d be great in a beach bag.  Maybe they are just trying to get us ready for Spring Break?

~REAL CHEMISTRY Fresh-Start Foaming Cleanser (15mL) ($3):  I have used their 3-minute peel in the past and was thrilled to see this foaming cleanser!  I have my skincare routine fairly down, but I do mix it up with different cleansers.  It’s creamy, and foam and my skin felt soft and smooth after using it.

~NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Lip Lingerie in Beauty Mark (.13oz) ($7):  I love this shade (it’s described as a chocolate brown), but it’s a matte finish, and that doesn’t thrill me.  I will be topping this with some clear gloss to make it work for me.,

~F.A.R.A.H BRUSHES Z-Tweeze Dual Ended Tweezer ($10): Yes!!  I have been needing some new tweezers, and these are perfect.  They are dual ended and have both slanted and pointed tips.  New sharp tweezers make all the difference in getting the perfect brow shape.

~LUE BY JEAN SEO Balance Hydrating and Calming Serum (.5oz) ($7.50): This serum firms and tones, while controlling oil and shine to minimize pores. It seemed to be hydrating and gentle but did feel a little sticky going on.  It’s possible I used too much tough. It got better once it “sank” in and left my skin quite smooth.

~CITY COLOR COSMETICS Contour Palette (2.35g) ($1.22): The final item in my ipsy this month was a contour palette.  I have yet to master the art of contour, but this seems like a fun palette to give things a try with.  It’s inexpensive, so if things don’t go well, I won’t be too sad about using too much product.

~Swatches:

All totaled my January 2018 ipsy had a value of $28.72.  That’s a fairly low value as far as ipsy is concerned, but I am happy with my bag this month!  The tweezers made it all worth it.  Everything else was just a bonus!
