The April 2018 GlobeIn Artisan Box “Fashion Foward” themed box included the following items:

1) Caftan, India (Retail $50): Symbology employs women artisans from India and the West Bank.  They pay their artisans a livable wage, allowing them to provide for their families.  This caftan can be used as a beach coverup or with jeans to run around town. It’s gauzy, but I was happy to see that it has arm holes, so that it’s not completely unstructured.  It’s 29 inches in length while the chest is 21 inches.

2) Palm Leaf Clutch, Mexico (Retail $20): Ohhh, love!  We have received many palm leaf baskets from GlobeIn, but never a palm leaf clutch.  It’ll be ideal for the beach or even for a casual night out.

3) Pineapple Ring, Bali (Retail $25): 31 Bits is a socially conscious jewelry company that gives displaced women in Northern Uganda an opportunity to combat poverty through fashion.  This team of artisans who make these pineapple rings are paid a fair wage and work in a friendly and supportive work environment.  You can feel good about wearing this ring because it’s doing good things!

4) Coconut Hand & Body Cream, Togo (Retail $3): Alaffia hand & body cream has soothing coconut, nourishing reishi, protective shea, and moisturizing kpagnan.  The goal of Alaffia is to alleviate poverty and encourage gender equality. They feel that it is their moral responsibility and to ensure African resources empower African communities.

5) Glee Gum, United States (Retail $1): Glee Gum is delicious, natural chewing gum. It’s made with chicle; a tree sap harvested sustainably to help conserve the rainforest.   My boys love it!

~Bonus Items: The box also included the following bonus items:
1) Keyfob (assorted colors) by Adelante Shoe company
2) $50 OFF code for any pair of Adelante shoes
3) Wallet Guide to Ethical Fashion from Remake
4) Wear Your Values Pin from Remake

The April 2018 GlobeIn Artisan Box “Fashion Forward” box had a value of $99 (not including the bonus items).  That’s double the cost of the box, but I am not necessarily sure I’d pay $50 for the caftan?  Still, I enjoyed the curation and always love reading the stories behind the selections.
