Target + Hunter – My Haul + Thoughts

Disclosure: If you make a purchase through the links posted below, I may receive a small compensation. Read the full disclosure.

I wasn’t planning on it, but I ended up at Target yesterday checking out the Hunter for Target collection. My feelings on it are mixed. Some pieces (the bags, coats, children’s boots, etc.) I love, while others (clothing mainly) I am just not feeling. I thought I’d share my haul (some will be returned) and feelings on the pieces I picked up.

~Toddler / Kids’ Tall Rain Boots ($25/$30): Love these! They seem to be quite well-made, and the cutouts at the top make them super easy to get on and off. My kindergartner is all about these while my 4th grader is like NOPE, so his are headed back!

~Kids’ Packable Rain Coat- Silver ($30): This coat is where it’s at!  It’s well-made and looks reflective on.  It’s a packable jacket and comes with a bag for storage.

~Kids’ Packable Rain Coat – Blue ($30): Had I not picked up the silver coat first, I would have thought this one was fine.  Thin, but fine.  The blue, yellow and red coats are 100% nylon, while the silver coat is 100% polyester. I wrongly assumed that all of the coats would be the same, but they are not at all!  The silver one is much thicker and just feels like a nicer coat.  The blue one I bought will be returned, but my 4th grader likes red better than silver, so we’ll be keeping a red coat I ordered online.  I would recommend the silver over the other colors any day though.

~Kids’ Striped Slides ($20): These slides are pretty much just like any other athletic slides out there (namely adidas).  L (my 4th grader) likes these, so he’s keeping them, and we are returning W’s (my kindergartener).

~Beverage Holder / Can Koozie ($3): I love the looks of these and thought $3 was a great deal (although 99% of the other koozies we – and likely everyone else – own were free), but it’s SO HARD to get the can out!  They are very narrow and don’t slide easily.  It might be easier on a bottle than a can though?

~Hunter for Target Over-Sized Tote Bag ($35): Probably my favorite item in the entire collection.  I wasn’t planning on getting it, but I am so glad I did.  It’s HUGE and should be great as an overnight bag or a beach tote.  It’s not heavy to hold, but it’s substantial and super well made.

~Large Pouch Bag ($9): I would have preferred the smaller one, but I really wanted the orange, and it only came in the larger size.  All of the pouches at the store looked a little “scuffed” if that makes sense?  For $9 I am okay with it, but I bet this is going to get real beat up, real quick.

~Square Cooler Bag ($50): This is just slightly larger than the Yeti Hooper 18 Portable Cooler for 1/6th of the price!  Yesterday I was 50/50 on returning this, but today I am leaning more towards keeping it.  It’s a great size, stylish and we don’t have a portable cooler like this.  One note – the zipper is HARD to manage (the cashier at Target and I thought it was defective at first), but it comes with a zipper lubricant inside!

I am still *hoping* to get the orange boots whenever it is that they launch the women’s tall boots, but there isn’t anything else I *need* from the collection.  It just felt pretty inconsistent quality wise, and I heard people complaining about sizing (my husband tried on the short boots and found them a size too large).  Although I would pick up a booty bag if I came across one!

People always over purchase during these launches because if you don’t, the next person who comes along will snatch it up and you’ll be out of luck if you decide you did indeed want that.  So if there is something you missed or wish you had gotten, there is still a chance.  You have 14 days to return your items (44 days if you used a Red Card), so I recommend checking your Targets for items you wanted and don’t forget to make your returns if there are things you aren’t in love with!

Have you gotten a chance to look at the collection in person? What do you think and what did you score?

Spread the love

This was such a good post to come across because I was curious without having to make the trip. Plus not every Target store near me is selling the collection.

Wow! Thanks for posting, you ended up with some great things. I went to my target at 11:30 am and they had nothing left except clothes. And I agree, none of the clothes were for me! I was hoping for the women?s slides! They had so many fun colors… oh well! Maybe I?ll luck out on returned stuff ?

I ordered online. my target didn?t carry the collection and with the winter weather/ice storm I didn?t want to travel but I was able to get my boys the silver packable rain coats and the blue/green abstract rain boots too. After seeing the bag I wish I would?ve thrown it in my cart when I had the chance. Hopefully no one buys from eBay forcing everyone to return things

I like that cooler! We have two Yetis and the zippers on both are super hard to close on those too. I may have to get my son some of the slides.

In the presale I ordered the large yellow backpack and I just received on Saturday, I really like it but I think it will go back, it is hugeeee, so I am not sure about keeping it, I love it but I do not know if I will really use it. My husband is saying keep it but I do not know ?
I ordered the sneakers for my kids and myself, I think we will keep mine and the ones for the girl, but I am not sure about the boy, so maybe those will go back, he is 12 now and he does not like everything I choose anymore ?
Yesterday I went to target and they had a lot of stuff including the short booties with stripes for my girl and the poncho with red/white/pink stripes, so I picked them and my girl like them so it was good, I was very tempted to pick some for me, girls size 5 fits me well hehehehe, but i really do not need more boots ?
I liked some of the clothing items but I think I will wait maybe they will reach the clearance.
