They announce their New Selections on the first of the month, and members have six days to decide which book (or books) they would like to receive. This month’s selections all looked great (they always do), but I am going to talk about The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang.

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang: I’d call this a perfect beach / vacation book.  It’s an easy read and while I knew how it was going to end basically right away,  it still kept my attention throughout.  I found myself invested in (and routing for) Stella and Michael the more I read.  It’s part Pretty Woman (with the roles reversed) and part 50 Shades of Grey.  Okay, maybe just a tiny part 50 Shades, but it was a lot steamier than I was expecting!  If you are on the fence on which book to select this month and like a good love story (with a little math mixed in), look no further!

Synopsis (from BOTM)

Stella Lane thinks math is the only thing that unites the universe. She comes up with algorithms to predict customer purchases—a job that has given her more money than she knows what to do with and way less experience in the dating department than the average 30 year old.

It doesn’t help that Stella has Asperger’s and French kissing reminds her of a shark getting its teeth cleaned by pilot fish. Her conclusion: She needs lots of practice—with a professional. Which is why she hires escort Michael Phan. The Vietnamese and Swedish stunner can’t afford to turn down Stella’s offer and agrees to help her check off all the boxes on her lesson plan—from foreplay to more-than-missionary position …

As Michael and Stella’s no-nonsense partnership takes them out of the bedroom and into a full-time practice relationship, being together starts making a strange kind of sense. And the pattern that emerges will convince Stella that love is the best kind of logic …
