ipsy Review – August 2018

Disclosure: If you make a purchase through the links posted below, I may receive a small compensation. Read the full disclosure.

ipsy sends its members a beautiful Glam Bag with 4-6 deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products based on your ipsy profile. Their bags always have an incredible value (well over the $10 cost), and I am always amazed at how they do it. I don’t always love everything in the bags, but I always always think it was worth my $10.  They also offer a rewards system for subscribers.  You can earn points by reviewing the items you get in your bags, sharing your ipsy bag on social media, etc. You can then redeem your points for products (often items which were featured in previous months) on the ipsy website.

ipsy bags have a ton of variation, so they don’t include product details on their information card. If you happen to stumble on this review, don’t be surprised if you end up with an entirely different bag. Specific details on the items in your bag can be found in your ipsy account online.

The August 2018 ipsy theme is “Selfie with No Filter” and my Glam Bag included the following items:

~The Bag: Sort of simple, but still very fun and summery.  I love the yellow piping detail and tassel closure.

~M·A·C False Lashes Mascara in Extreme Black (1g) ($3): This mascara promises to give you maximum volume with an amazing curl to match. I have lash extensions so I don’t use mascara, but getting MAC in a box is always a win!

~CROWN BRUSH Blush Highlighter Brush CB106 ($7.95): Good for both powder and cream blushes, this brush can be used in the hollows of the cheeks and around the periphery of the face.  The synthetic bristles are easy to clean too!

~TONYMOLY The Black Tea London Classic Serum (10mL) ($6.25): This serum protects skin against harmful environments and enhances skin elasticity with anti-aging effect.  It did not make me break out and I felt like my skin looked brighter after only a week of use.

~OUAI Volume Spray (25mL) ($4.64): I love this!  It gives me great volume without leaving my hair crunchy or stiff.  It has a gorgeous light scent too!

~DIRTY LITTLE SECRET COSMETICS Bronzer in Skinny Dip (2.5g) ($14): Summer isn’t over yet! At least not as long as I have this bronzer.  It gives you a buildable tan, so you don’t have to worry about looking muddy or cakey.

All totaled I came up with a value of $35.84 for the August 2018 ipsy.  That is over 3.5x the cost and, as usual, was well worth it.
