Birchbox Review + Coupon Code - April 2019
Birchbox is a monthly subscription of beauty samples tailored to your skin, hair, and style.  They recently increased the price of their box from $10/month to $15/month (current subscribers were grandfathered in at $13/month or $10/month for annual subscribers) and promise improvements to personalization, new products to choose from, more customization options for subscribers and faster shipping, among other things.  April 2019 was the first month of the changes and I was anxious to get my box and see the changes for myself.

Birchbox
Cost: $15/month

Birchbox ships via USPS and all boxes generally ship by the 10th of the month.

This review is on the April 2019 Birchbox. Two curated boxes were also available this month which subscribers could swap for their monthly box. My April 2019 Birchbox included the following items:

~Living Proof Style Lab Prime Style Extender (30mL) ($4): Have I tried a hair primer?  This may be a first!  Like a skin primer extends the life of your makeup, this will extend the life of your hairstyle.  I have straight hair that I wash and air dry daily, so I don’t think this is a product I need.  I do see the appeal of this, but it isn’t something that I will use.

~Marcelle City 24H Anti-Pollution Day & Night Moisturizing Emulsion (0.23fl.oz) ($4.09): This everyday moisturizer is designed to protect against dullness, dehydration and irritation. It is lightweight and long-lasting without being at all greasy.  Good stuff!

~Number 4 Lumiere d’hiver Clarifying Shampoo (1oz) ($3.76) & (Bonus) Reconstructing Mask (0.25fl.oz) ($2.97):  According to the instructions on Birchbox, this is to be used daily for best results.  However, I personally like to use it once a week just to strip excess build-up.  This works as well as any clarifying shampoo I have tried so it’s a win for me.  This also included a Reconstructing Mask sample which I am saving for this summer after chlorine /sun takes a toll on my hair.

~Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray (1oz) ($10): Love!!  I mentioned my hair was straight, but I didn’t mention it was also flat.  It is.  I use a sea salt or texture spray before I let it air dry and it makes a ton of difference (it’s even better if I use a blow dryer).  This gives it great texture without making you feel like you have a helmet on.

~Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil (5mL) ($18.33): YES!!!  I love getting Sunday Riley in subscription boxes.  This promises to plump, smooth, luminate, and even-toned skin by morning.  So far I am loving it.  My skin feels and looks brighter already.

~(Bonus) Wander Beauty Lip Retreat Oil (3mL) ($6.60): This is moisturizing without being sticky (and much to my surprise) was a pink shade (I thought it would be clear). I am hoping this pops up in the others shades in Birchbox boxes down the road.

My April 2019 Birchbox had a value of $49.75.  I am super impressed with this and am loving the changes I am seeing so far.  I was hesitant at first to pay more for Birchbox, but if the value is going to increase like this, I am fine with it!

Did you get Birchbox this month?  What you’d get in your box and what’d you think?
