What I Read This Month – June 2019 Edition

I was slacking on my reading this winter, but it’s summer and I am back in full force!!  Here is what I read in June 2019:

~Drawing Home by Jamie Brenner (Library): Loved this. I felt like the characters were well-developed and while it was slightly (okay more than slightly) unrealistic, I didn’t even care. Without giving too much away, I will say that everything was wrapped up in a neat bow by the end of this book which I am all about!

~Summer of ’69 by Elin Hildebrand (Book of the Month):  This was everything I expected.  It was a quick read and although it is set in 1969, I felt connected to the characters and story itself.  My library had (and likely still has) a waiting list a mile long for this one, so I was thrilled to see it was a BOTM selection in June.

~The Summer Guests by Mary Alice Monroe (Library): I do not believe I have ever read anything by this author, but I loved this book so much that I want to go back and read all her other stuff.  I felt like I knew the characters in the story and genuinely cared how everyone ended up weathering the storm.  An awesome beach read.

~The Rest of the Story by Sarah Dessen(Library): Kind of obsessed with this book.  I did not want it to end and to be honest, I want a sequel.  I need to know what happens to Emma and Roo!!!

~The Friends We Keep by Jane Green (Library): I have always loved Jane Green and her books, but this was not one of my favorites of hers.  I did enjoy it, but it was not her best.  There were a lot of twists in here, but I was not connected enough to care which direction they went.

~One Day in December by Josie Silver (Library): I actually checked this out from the library this winter, never read and then decided to try again. I am so glad I did.  I am not sure if I believe in love at first sight for myself, but I for sure believed in it for these two!

~When You Read This by Mary Adkins (Library): This book gets great reviews on Amazon, but it was a miss for me.  It’s not written chapters, rather it is a collection of texts, blogs, letters and emails.  It has the potential to be incredible, but it never got there for me.  The end was a super disappointing as well.

What did you read in June?  Any recommendations for me the rest of the summer?

I read One Day In December and I loved it. I’m almost done reading The Rest of the Story and I love it. I just picked up The Friends We Keep & When You Read This at the library.
