Birchbox Review + Coupon Code – October 2019

Disclosure: If you make a purchase through the links posted below, I may receive a small compensation. Read the full disclosure.

Birchbox is a monthly subscription of beauty samples tailored to your skin, hair, and style.  They recently increased the price of their box from $10/month to $15/month (current subscribers were grandfathered in at $13/month or $10/month for annual subscribers) and promise improvements to personalization, new products to choose from, more customization options for subscribers and faster shipping, among other things.  April 2019 was the first month of the changes and I was anxious to get my box and see the changes for myself.

This review is on the October 2019 Birchbox. I opted to make a sample choice this month and did not opt for a curated box.

My October 2019 Birchbox included the following items:

~NatureLab Tokyo Perfect Shine Oil Mist (30mL) ($4): First of all, I love the smell of this!  It has a “violet almond scent” and is just fantastic!  It gave my hair an amazing glossy shine, but you do need to be cautious with this.  Your hair could end up looking oily instead of shiny if you use too much.

~amika Supernova Moisture and Shine Cream (20mL) ($5): I love getting amika from Birchbox!  This leave-in conditioner is formulated to preserve moisture, detangle, tame frizz, and protect from heat styling.  You can also use it on dry hair to tame flyaways and give your hair a little shine boost.  I wouldn’t use this plus the oil mist above at the same time though.  That’d just be too much

~Dr. Jart+ Cicapair™ Tiger Grass Calming Gel Cream (5mL) ($4.80): Tiger Grass Calming Gel Cream does exactly as promised.  It calms the skin while also providing deep hydration and soothing properties.  Good stuff!

~ModelCo Matte Lip Crème Gloss (Crème de Nude) (~$7): Such a pretty shade! It’s a matte finish, but I topped it with a little shine and really liked it how it turned out.

~Love of Color Liquid Shimmer Shadow (Moonlight) (~$5): At first glance I thought this was another lip product, but it is actually a cream shimmer shadow which is much more fun!  It’s super easy to use and quick to apply.

~Kiehl’s Youth Dose Eye Treatment (3mL) ($7.80): Kiehl’s has been popping up in boxes more and more lately and I love it.  This eye treatment brightens the eye area and also reduce dark circles and fine lines over time.  It’s tinted and did leave my eyes much brighter.  And also, like the oil mist above, a little of this goes a long way.

All totaled I came up with a value of $34 for my October 2019 Birchbox.  That is a great value and I am very happy with this box!

Did you get Birchbox this month?  What you’d get in your box and what’d you think?
