Play! by Sephora Review - September 2019

Play! by Sephora has switched to recycled bags (they previous sent cloth bags) and I love them. I usually ended up tossing the drawstring cloth ones, but I will save these resealable ones.

The September 2019 Play! by Sephora theme is “Must-See Beauty” and included the following items:

~BITE BEAUTY Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Glacé (~$12): This is about half the size as full-size crayon from BITE. While I normally don’t love a matte lip, I am making an exception for this. It is so creamy and moisturizing and went on so smoothly. Glacé is a highly pigmented, super flattering dusty mauve shade. Also, it smells SO GOOD.

~HOURGLASS Caution™ Extreme Lash Mascara (0.12oz) ($10.54): I mention it often so I am sure you have heard this by now, but I have lash extensions and do not use mascara. So no opinion on this either way.  I do like the brush though.

~FIRST AID BEAUTY Hello FAB Pores Be Gone Matte Primer (0.34oz) ($5.60): This is an oil-free, matte-finish primer that instantly blurs the appearance of pores and grips makeup for long-lasting wear.   It is meant to be warn under foundation, but don’t wear foundation so I just use it alone.  It takes away the shine and helps to blur imperfections.
Play! by Sephora Review - September 2019

~fresh Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash (20mL) ($5.28): I would buy the full-size of this just for the smell alone!  I found it exfoliating, but not harsh and it left my skin feeling clean and looking brighter.
Play! by Sephora Review - September 2019

~amika bushwick beach no-salt wave spray (30mL) ($5): A no-salt wave spray?  Interesting.   I wanted to love it, but I just didn’t find that it did the job like my sea-salt sprays do.  It has a different texture to it.  Maybe I just need an adjustment period, but for now it is a miss.
Play! by Sephora Review - September 2019

~YVES SAINT LAURENT Libre Eau De Parfum (~$1): I was expecting an over the deep musky scent for some reason, but Libre is more of a fruity floral.  It has note of Lavender Essence, Orange Blossom and Musk Accord.  The first spritz is a bit heavy, but I thought it dried softer. I wouldn’t wear it daily, but it was fun to test out.
Play! by Sephora Review - September 2019

All totaled my September 2019 Play! by Sephora had a value of about $40.  I would call this a solid box.  I was not blown away, but by no means was I disappointed either.

What did you think of the September 2019 Play! by Sephora? One thing to keep in mind is that Play! sends out a variety of boxes each month, so you may end up receiving a different box than your best friend who is also a subscriber. If you are interested in subscribing (and you probably should be because their boxes are great), you can check them out here.
