Birchbox is a monthly subscription of beauty samples tailored to your skin, hair, and style. They recently increased the price of their box from $10/month to $15/month (current subscribers were grandfathered in at $13/month or $10/month for annual subscribers) and promise improvements to personalization, new products to choose from, more customization options for subscribers and faster shipping, among other things. April 2019 was the first month of the changes and I was anxious to get my box and see the changes for myself.

This review is on the January 2020 Birchbox. I opted to make a sample choice this month and did not select a curated box.
My January 2020 Birchbox included the following items:
~Marcelle Xtension Plus Curl Mascara (0.15 fl.oz) ($8.04): As you probably know, I don’t wear mascara (I have lash extensions). I feel like a broken record saying it all the time, but I also can’t say I tried this when I didn’t. It has a TON of reviews on Birchbox though, so I will direct you there.
~(MALIN+GOETZ) revitalizing eye gel (3mL) ($8.40): I love eye cream and gels and love Malin+Goetz, so I am guessing you can see where this is going. It helps with puffiness, dark circles and is very hydrating. A little of this goes a long way, which makes it even better as it is quite expensive.
~TPSY Lip Crush Lip Oil (1mL) ($4.20): This isn’t a gloss, but isn’t quite a balm either. My feels are mixed. I liked it, but it does not replace a balm or a gloss for me. So I am just not sure where its place is?
~Alterna CAVIAR Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture Priming Leave-In Conditioner (25mL) ($5.44): A lightweight leave-in conditioner detangles, hydrates, and primes fine or dry hair for styling and heat. Basically it does everything and does it well. It smells pretty darn good too!
~Touch In Sol Pretty Filter Glassy Skin Balm (0.16fl.oz) ($3.35): I received the full-size of this in Boxycharm last fall and loved it. It leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft and almost dewy. I am a bag fan and loved getting this travel size.
All totaled I came up with a value of about $30 for my January 2020 Birchbox. It was an okay month for me. Not amazing, not awful.
Did you get Birchbox this month? What you’d get in your box and what’d you think?
