Birchbox is a monthly subscription of beauty samples tailored to your skin, hair, and style. They recently increased the price of their box from $10/month to $15/month (current subscribers were grandfathered in at $13/month or $10/month for annual subscribers) and promise improvements to personalization, new products to choose from, more customization options for subscribers and faster shipping, among other things. April 2019 was the first month of the changes and I was anxious to get my box and see the changes for myself.

This review is on the August 2020 Birchbox. I selected a sample item this month instead of a curated box, so most of the items in here were a surprise.
My August 2020 Birchbox (no idea where I put my information card) included the following items:
~Vasanti Brighten Up! Love my hand cream (10mL) ($4.80): I first discovered Vasanti’s BrightenUp! Exfoliator in a subscription box (in Birchbox probably 7-8 years ago actually) and LOVE it, so I was thrilled to see this in here. And it did NOT disappoint. It didn’t take forever to absorb, but it felt rich and ultra hydrating. Do my hands look younger? It’s way too soon to tell, but I am keeping my fingers crossed.
~KNDR Luxury Hand Sanitizer (30ml – full-size) ($12): Remember when it was so hard to find hand sanitizer? Seems like it is everywhere now (hopefully Clorox wipes start appearing everywhere too), but it is always good to have more. And this is a perfect one for my purse. I like the smell and and it doesn’t make my hands feel sticky. It’s a little runny though, so be careful not to squeeze too much out and get it on your clothing.
~tarte SEA quench hydrating primer (10mL) ($10.67): I don’t recall ever getting tarte in a Birchbox before! This primer smells great, feels great on my skin and made my BB cream go on easily. Can’t ask for much more than that!
~PETER THOMAS ROTH Water Drench® Hyaluronic Cloud Cream (~$8): This is so hydrating without being super thick. It felt great on my skin and didn’t cause any breakouts – even when wearing a mask with it.
~amika Soulfood Nourishing Mask (0.68fl.oz) ($2.38): Always happy to get amika in a subscription box (or anywhere for that matter). This helps with split-ends along with dryness and really does work. The best part is that you only need to leave it in for 5 minutes (10 if you really want) so it’s easy to use in the shower and doesn’t require any pre-planning (I’m looking at you 30 minute leave-in hair masks).
~TOCCA Giulietta Eau de Parfum (~$1): Giulietta has notes of Bulgarian rose, pink tulips, cedarwood, and musk. The woodsy undertones balance out the florals nicely. It smells clean, not too strong or overpowering.
All totaled my August 2020 Birchbox had a value of $39. This was a box full of winners in my opinion. So many well-known brands that I know and have come to love!
