The So Wrong It’s Nom 2022 Ilchester Cheese Advent Calendar is back! The calendar is $16.88 at Sam’s Club (you can also find it at Target, Supervalu, Sprouts, Schnucks, Meijer, Jewel, Kroger, Lidl and Publix.). It includes 24 individually wrapped pieces of the following cheeses:
Applewood is made with traditional hand-turned British Farmhouse Cheddar. It has a delicate smoky flavour and a lovely smooth texture, all finished with a dusting of paprika for good measure.
Applewood Vintage PDO*. This one is aged for 12 months made from specially selected Farmhouse Cheddar.
Ilchester Mature Cheddar – Ilchester’s Cheddar comes from the West Country, close to where Cheddar originated in the Mendip Hills. Take a bite and let the creaminess melt in your mouth, with its earthy tangy notes
Ilchester Vintage PDO* Cheddar. It’s been carefully aged and has a slightly drier texture to the cheddar above due to the maturing process. You may be lucky to discover some calcium crystals which add crunch to the texture.
Ilchester Double Gloucester is another iconic hard cheese. It has a rich, buttery, mellow taste and you may know it as the famous cheese that is rolled down Coopers Hill annually in May for the UK’s most extreme cheese rolling race!
Ilchester Red Leicester – A smooth and nutty traditional English cheese, based on a classic Cheddar recipe, that will add a splash of colour to any cheese board. To give the cheese its rich colour, traditionally annatto (a natural plant dye obtained from annatto seeds) is added.
Ilchester Aged Red Leicester is matured for a minimum of 9 months which gives it a distinguishable smooth, tangy and nutty taste. This cheese has a slight citrus tang that lingers through to the finish.
Mexicana – Featuring a fiery mix of bell, jalapeño and chilli peppers, this cheese is a punchy blend of traditional British Cheddar and infused with 14 delicious spices.
Ilchester Apple, Onion and Sage– A versatile and uniquely flavoured British cheddar, carefully blended for a well-rounded, deliciously sweet, Apple flavour, with scrumptious savoury notes from the onion and aromatic sage.
