Sephora Favorites 2022 Mini Candle Discovery Set Review

As soon as I saw that the Sephora Favorites Mini Candle Discovery Set was being offered again this year I knew I had to snag it. I purchased last years version as well (you can see my review here) and it was so worth it. It features five votive candles to sample and includes a certificate to redeem for the full-size candle you love the most.

Cost: $55
Where to Purchase: Sephora

From Sephora
Find your new favorite candle scent with this candle sampler set. Perfectly giftable, this set comes with five sample-size candles ranging from earthy & woody to warm & spicy. Choose your favorite, and then take the included scent certificate to any US Sephora store* or Sephora.com to redeem for a full size of your favorite featured fragrance at no extra cost.*

How cute is this packaging? It’s like a little candle house!

All of the candles are listed on the back with the names, sizes and a description of the scent.

The Sephora Favorites Mini Candle Discovery Set includes the following candles:

3 oz/ 85 g Boy Smells Les Votive ($12.71): LES is a well-balanced, ripe, and raw fragrance. Ripe is sweet fruit, gushing black currant, and budding peach blossom. Raw is bare cedarwood and warm vanilla absolute. It is SO good. It has a little bit of everything which stops it from being too strong.

2.5 oz/ 70 g Maison Louis Marie No. 4 Bois De Balincourt Candle ($10.59): This scent is a sandalwood fragrance with a dominant cedarwood and sandalwood accord supplemented by a spicy cinnamon nutmeg complex and an earthy vetiver note. I like the scent, but it’s very light and the throw isn’t great. As a side note, this same candle scent was also in the 2021 candle sampler.

1.23 oz/ 35 g Maison Margiela Replica By The Fireplace ($13.78): By The Fireplace is warm & spicy with a smoky, woody aroma.  I can’t decide if it’s too smokey for me or if I absolutely love it.

0.95 oz/ 27 g NEST New York Grapefruit Candle ($5.40):  NEST never gets it wrong! Grapefruit is an exhilarating blend of pink pomelo grapefruit and watery, green nuances with lily of the valley and coriander blossom. It’s amazing and was also in last years version.

1.23 oz/ 35 g Voluspa French Cade Lavender Mini Votive ($2.19): This was also included in last years sampler, but the 2022 version is slightly larger. French Cade & Lavender is a rustic and herbaceous candle that fills the room with an aromatic infusion of lush lavender, rare French cade wood, and vivid lemon verbena. Voluspa is one of my favorite candle brands. This scent is beautiful and has a great throw.

Scent Certificate: The sampler also includes a scent certificate to be redeemed at any US Sephora store OR online for a full-size version of one of the candles included in the sampler..  There is no expiration date on the certificate, but they do recommend you use it within twelve months to ensure the product of your choice is available.

The scent certificate redeems for:
8.5 oz/ 240 g Boy Smells Les Votive ($36)
8.5 oz/ 240 g Maison Louis Marie No. 4 Bois De Balincourt Candle ($36)
5.8 oz/ 164 g Maison Margiela Replica By The Fireplace ($65)
8.1 oz/ 230 g NEST New York Grapefruit Candle ($46)
18 oz/ 510 g Voluspa French Cade Lavender ($32)

All totaled the Sephora Favorites Mini Candle Discovery Set had a value of approximately $45 PLUS the value of the full-size candle of your choosing (which range from $32 to $65).  I cannot decide if I want to do the LES Boy Smells, the Voluspa French Cade Lavender or the Maison Margiela Replica By The Fireplace. What would you pick?

This is an outstanding deal for $55 no matter which candle you select. I think these would make outstanding holiday gifts and I highly suggest snagging them before they sell out!
