“Golden Summer. Natural Glow. Effortless Fun.” That’s how IPSY’s senior designer Joanne Wong sums up the August aesthetic, and one look at the bag says it all. “I imagined myself on a summer vacation in the Arizona desert,” says Joanne. “Horseback riding at sunset, taking in all those beautiful, warm tones. That moment became the foundation for this design.”
The bag features a rich desert brown faux leather base (chosen for its ability to handle both deep and bright hues), accented with stripes in three high-contrast sunset shades—think fiery oranges, warm pinks, and sun-bleached corals. But the standout detail? A sleek, custom-designed charm that mimics a horse bit buckle, nodding to both equestrian style and golden summer nostalgia.
“It took a few tries to get the size and weight just right,” Joanne says of the charm. “I originally wanted to use a full horse bit buckle, but it was too heavy. The final version is subtle, lightweight, and even has a little IPSY embossing. It’s a clean finishing touch I love.”
