I’ve been reading the reviews on this blog for the last couple weeks looking for a good mens subscription box. I went with TrendyButler.com and was very pleased. I received 2 items (button up shirt and a very good quality T-shirt). Hoping I can get more button up and long sleeve shirts in the future. The brands were different and good quality.

Got 2 ugly t-shirts and a pair of socks. How is that trendy?
Tried to return it and found out that you can only return 1 item plus it has to be done within 7 days..

Looking for a review of Trendy Butler? Wondering if it’s all too good to be true?

    TLDR: It most certainly is.

Trendy Butler is a terrible business model.

Trendy Butler sent me two shirts that were laughably bad. I tried them on to show my wife just how awful. She laughed at me.

Trendy Butler WILL NOT give you a refund if you’re unsatisfied.

Now Trendy Butler is laughing, all the way to the bank with my money.

Yes, I was intrigued by the price. Yes, I was motivated to purchase subscription clothing because I hate going to the mall and being run over by a marauding mob of morons chasing Pokemon on their phones with a blatant disregard for human life – mine or theirs.

No, I was not expecting there to be zero course of action for a refund from Trendy Butler when the clothes arrived and were not up to snuff.

First, there were zero instructions included in the package. Not even an invoice. Nothing. Being my first time using their service, it would have been nice to know that should I remove a tag in order to try on the shirt that it would null any opportunity for a return or refund.I’m sure it was buried in the terms & conditions in the footer of their website. In 6 point font size, of course.

Second, after engaging in an email exchange with a support agent, I was repeatedly apologized to but given no recourse. After stewing in my frustration juices for a few days, I wrote her back and asked to have my case escalated to speak with a manager, who called after 2 days.

MEANWHILE, a charge for the clothing was placed on my credit card for $65. The manager, also apologetic, was “willing to step outside of their policy” but I was told I would have to pay for the return shipping and that a refund was not possible.

MEANING that I would have to endure another crappy, poorly made batch of clothes until I managed to have a stranger send me something I might find wearable.

Major, major service design fail, say nothing of the customer service fail.

Do yourself a favor fellow consumer and avoid this business with extreme prejudice. Trendy Butler is neither trendy, nor service-focused.

And isn’t that what we expect any good butler to be?

This review is for Trendy Butler. Terrible customer service and even worse clothing choices. I signed up very excited to use this service based off of the pictures of clothing they used to advertise their service. VERY deceiving. They don’t send you anything that matches your clothing profile, or sizes that match. It arrives in a brown paper bag! The clothing was from Japan, so they run incredibly small. I tried to cancel service and communicate with them, but they would NEVER respond. I had to follow up numerous times in order to get a response. When they finally did, they would only answer one of my questions and nothing about the rest. They say you can request ideas for your next shipment, that’s not the case at all. Once you cancel, you have to pay $15 to return your shipment and HOPE that your replacement shipment is something you like, otherwise you are stuck in this endless cycle of paying $15 to return items. I’m surprised they call themselves Trendy Butler and have a concierge email address…they are anything like a true butler. Everything about this service is terrible. Great customer service is what makes a small start up business work. They have a lot of work to do in order to make it against the competition. A brown paper bag!?!??!!

Just got my second box from ThreadBeast and I canceled the subscription. They sent me the same shirt twice – and I’ve only gotten two boxes! Seriously??
This second box was all tops with a hat that had a skull on it when I specifically emailed and specified that I did not want anything with skulls or dark things on them. They said they would make sure it was put in their system that I didn’t want that, but they just sent a skull hat, so apparently it didn’t go in or somebody is incompetent. I’m also just not happy with the boxes. The pictures they show are examples of their best boxes – the ones that no one actually gets. You are not going to get as nice of stuff as in the pictures.
This is a great concept, I do like a few of the things that they sent, but for $85, they should not be messing up on simple things like sending 2 of the same shirt and blatantly not following my specifications. They also claim they will look on your Insta to see what your style is, and I feel like they didn’t do that at all since the stuff they sent is totally not the things that I would wear.

  7. Reece

Buyer Beware! Blaccbox are a scam, they do not send goods. I have paid 5 monthly subscriptions and still have not received one package. They Ignore my emails and requests to refund and cancel my subscription.

Great review! Will try them out
