Thundershirt – Product Review

I have been wanting to get Buddy a thundershirt for awhile now. But I haven’t gotten around to ordering it online. So when we went to The Three Dog Bakery while at the mall over the weekend, I happened to see that they sold them in the store. That’s all I needed. I grabbed an XXS and hoped it would fit. Oh wait, did I mention that the shirt was $39.95? Oh my. Buddy certainly is an expensive dog.

I put it on him pretty much the minute we got home. At first he just stood there. Frozen. I was a tad worried it worked too much. But he eventually got used to it and turned into a slower version of himself. Which is good. We had him wear it most of the night and I could for sure tell that it calmed him down. He does have some trouble walking up the steps in it, but I think that’s just because maybe the shirt is so tight (I should have gotten him an XS). I’ll do an update in a few weeks after Buddy gets used to the shirt. But right now, I’m giving the thundershirt a thumbs up!

Wow, that Thundershirt is rather handsome looking on Buddy! Ok, I didn’t even know they were for “anxiety” in general…I thought they were literally for “thunder”…duh!? Never really paid attention. So, it’s like a Xanax shirt…? Will definitely keep it in mind if Lucky needs it in the future!

I give it a 2 thumbs up! Buddy usually goes crazy ( jumps around, barks and gets tangled) when I try to put his leash on. Today he just stood there. He’s like a different dog.

I got a Thundershirt for my dog last night because of her separation anxiety. I put it on her 4 or 5 times for 5 to 10 minutes each and she just stood there like a statue! I’m glad to hear that was only a temporary reaction with your dog, so that gives me hope. I have to leave her home alone for a few hours tonight and I’m a little worried about leaving her in the Thundershirt because she might not move the whole time I’m gone, and I don’t want it to ADD to her anxiety, but I guess I will just have to see how it goes!
