A Poll ~ What are you giving your Kid’s Teachers / Caregivers?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
We were talking about this on a message board I am part of, so I thought I’d ask all of you as well, what are you getting your children’s teachers and / or caretakers this year?

I usually do a Target or some other gift card and a little “go with” gift. Something like fuzzy socks or a sparkly nail polish or chocolate plus a gift card. If I knew for sure that L’s teacher this year liked Starbucks, I’d do a Starbucks card and a Rodarte Ceramic Traveler, because I am kind of obsessed with them.  But since I don’t know, I think I am going to do fuzzy socks and a Target gift card.  Also, I give the same gifts to my hair girl, my cleaning girl, etc.  It’s just easier that way.  I do try to play it safe with my gift card selections and steer clear of anything too specific for my go with gifts.  I never give Bath & Body Work lotions / soaps / candles because I feel like that’s kind of specific and teachers get a TON of that kind of stuff.

Now, it’s your turn, tell me what you are getting your kids teachers this year.  Luckily L only has two teachers, so I am getting off easy.  In previous years when he was in daycare, I’d buy for his teachers, as well as, the front desk girls and the director / assistant director because they were always so so good to us.  I don’t ever deal with anyone in the office at L’s school (he only goes 3 1/2 days), so that saves us a lot of gifts!  And if you don’t have kids or they aren’t in school, what do you get co-workers?  Or your stylist?  Or your nanny / babysitter?  Let’s hear it so we can all steal each others ideas ;).

I’ve been doing gift cards. I have alot of teacher friends and thats what they like best so I’ve been going with that. I usually get a cute go with gift too and they all get the same go with but I do vary the gc amount. His main teacher gets more then his two assistants and the director.

I’m a teacher and I LOVE getting gift cards. It means I get to go get what I really want without feeling guilty about spending the money. It’s a win-win 🙂 And I love the baked goods, though my thighs clearly don’t.

Actually, I don’t really know! I ordered blank cards from Shutterfly for my youngest daughter’s preschool teachers (2 teachers). They have a picture of a sunflower on them that I took, the significance being that we grew the sunflower from seeds that one of my other kids grew in their class. I’ll probably give them something else small to go with it.

I don’t know what I’m giving the 1st & 4th grade teachers. I think I’ll skip 6th grade teachers, because that would probably be social suicide for my daughter 😉

We always do a Barnes & Noble gift card for their main classroom teachers. I also do Subway gift cards in a smaller dollar amount for their P.E., music, etc. teachers. I also do those for the office staff. Never hurts to let people know you appreciate their help!

We get ours something locally made. Usually something edible – like honey, candy, or jam. If they don’t want it, I’m assuming it’s the kind of thing that’s easy enough to regift.

I like the gift card route but we live out of town and I don’t want to ask the teachers where they live/shop since that will take the surprise out of it.

I have no idea what I’m going to get for Dill’s teacher. The gift card with a little something else sounds like a good idea. I just don’t know what his teacher might like. I was maybe thinking the homemade cookie mix in a jar or making some caramel corn and giving something else too. I just don’t know.
