Jolly Rancher Ornaments

An instagram friend of mine posted a picture of her Jolly Rancher Ornaments the other day and instantly I knew I HAD to make them with L. It was probably one of the easiest projects we have ever done.

The supplies

With the exception of the Jolly Ranchers which I had to run to CVS and get, I had everything else on hand.  I have one of these pans for pretty much every holiday, thanks to the Target clearance sales.  And it was PERFECT for this craft.

Getting Started

L was a tad confused about what we were making and didn’t seem to understand why we were making ornaments in a cookie pan.  With candy.

Sampling the Candy

We used four Jolly Ranchers per ornament (just a guess) and did a mixture of solids and multo-color ornaments.  And somehow L had never had a Jolly Rancher before, so of course, he had to try one.

Cooking

I put them in the oven at 325 degrees for about 10 minutes.  I took them out when they were all bubbly.  And that’s where the project got a little more difficult.  We took them out of the oven and let them cool for a long time, but still had some trouble getting them out of the pan.  So I popped them in the freezer to better harden them and then B slammed the pan on the counter a few times and out they popped.  One of the reindeer’s antlers broke off, but that was it.

All done!
This is made from all blue Jolly Ranchers. Unexpected for sure.

I didn’t poke holes in them when they were drying (it seemed too hard), so I am going to have B drill some holes in them when he gets back in from playing outside with L.  He claims it should be no big deal, but I’ll let you know if it doesn’t work!

Are you doing any crafty projects this Saturday?  Let’s see!
