I decided to link-up with Neely over at A Complete Waste of Makeup for this week’s Sunday Social. Sometimes I link-up. Sometimes I don’t. This week I did.

1. Favorite Holiday Movies/TV Specials?
No question, my favorite holiday movies are Elf and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. I own them both on DVD and they never get old. I think I might watch Elf today as a matter of fact. I mean, we’ve gotta decorate the tree and that’s perfect to have on in the background!

2. Do you do any volunteering during the holidays if so what? If not what would you do?
Shameful, but no I don’t. This is something I need to start doing. I would LOVE to work sorting / organizing toys received by Toys For Tots or something similar. It’s right up my alley and I think I’d be very good at it. Does anyone know how I can get involved in this?

3. Favorite toy received as a Child for the Holidays?
Hmm, I am going to have to say my Cabbage Patch Kid. What, I was a child of the 80’s ;). It was the *hot* gift that year and I got it! And I loved that thing. If I recall correctly, her name was Ira. So random. And I appreciate it even more now that I know how hard it likely was to get that thing. I mean, the internet and NowInStock.net (I love that site) wasn’t around back then, so it required actual hard work to get it!

4. What was your must have item in high school for the Holidays?
I don’t know about this? It’s been a long time since I was in high school, so it’s hard to remember what the cool thing was. I am guessing Abercrombie & Fitch clothes, money, make-up maybe? We didn’t have ipods or cell phones back then (gasp), so who knows what we wanted?

5. Item you begged for the most and never got?
OMG, this is SO easy. I totally wanted an Easy Bake Oven. And my mom said it was DUMB and never got me one. She was all “why do you want this when I’ll just help you use the real oven”. Umm, I don’t know, maybe because I like my cookies to be baked by a lightbulb? She did eventually end up getting me one years and years later, so I am over it now. And L saw one at the store the other day and was asking me all sorts of questions about it. Don’t worry kid, I’ve still got mine in the basement. We’ll make mini sized treats together ASAP.

6. What do you do on Christmas Eve? If you are Jewish what does your family do for Hanukkah?
Ever since I can remember, we get together with my Dad’s side of the family on Christmas Eve. Back in the day, we used to go to my Grandparents house and “Santa” would come. I should post a picture of what has become of my Grandparents old house in the city (aka Detroit). My mom and I drove by it a few weeks ago and wow, it’s not good. We still get together with my Dad’s side of the family, but now we rotate houses (I even hosted once). My cousin is hosting this year and I cannot wait!

To help with Toys for Toys, go to their website, find your state & then city & it will take you to their website where you can find somebody to contact!! It’s such a great thing!

I laugh at the Easy Bake Oven respondence from your mom because my 10 yr. old wants one this year and I ALMOST found myself telling her the same thing but then reality hit and I went why put myself thru the horrors of “teaching” her to do it in the real oven when she can do it in the Easy oven !! Hopping by from the Social :]

I always wanted a chemistry set. I diligently asked for one every year…never got it!

I loved Cabbage Patch Kids too!!!! I have like a million of them still! I inherited my grandmother’s collection. My most cherished CPK are my twins! Those babies cost my grandma some shoe leather and $$$, but the look on my face was priceless, so it was worth it!
