Julep Cupid’s Mystery Box Review

Julep Cupid’s Mystery Box

Soon after I signed up for a monthly Julep Maven subscription, I got an e-mail about a Cupid’s Mystery Box. For $19.99 you get $70-$200 worth of Valentine’s Day treats, PLUS a mystery holographic OR a gift code for the color of your choice. Umm, how could I resist? I couldn’t right?

The Box

I wasn’t sure if this was my first Maven box or if this was my mystery box when it arrived. For whatever reason, I haven’t gotten my Maven box that I ordered the last week in January. Seriously, everyone else who ordered after me has gotten theirs. And the tracking number they sent is like expired? Whatever. It’ll come.

First Look

Anyways, it turned out that this was the mystery box (*)! I had peeked a few mystery boxes on Instagram, but it’s always fun to get your own!

There was no information card in the box (boo), but since everything was labeled, it was easy to figure out what everything was. Here’s what all was included:

~Morgan – Bombshell ($14): This is a “frosty grape purple shimmer” and I love it. I never knew how hard it was to take (accurate) pictures of nail polish until I started getting subscription boxes.

Morgan – Bombshell

~Maria – American Beauty($14): Maria is a “shimmering platinum rose” and is quite pretty. Sometimes, with mystery boxes, you end up with all prior season crap they couldn’t sell. Obviously that is not the case here as all these colors are great!

Maria – American Beauty

~Carrie – Bombshell ($14): I’m not overly in love with pale nails on me, but I will give this “classic, cotton candy pink crème” a go in the spring. Maybe with a glitter topcoat. Everything is better with glitter.

Carrie – Bombshell

~Petra – Boho Glam ($14): It’s possible that this “cranberry magenta with silver shimmer” is my favorite color in the box. I would have totally bought this at the store and have plans to paint my nails with it tomorrow!

Petra – Boho Glam

~Lip Vernis – Camellia ($18): This is a very sheer pink and is not sticky or goopy at all. I put it on right away to try and figure out if it was a plumping gloss or not (I know Julep has some) and B caught me looking into my iPhone camera to check out the color and was all WTF. The verdict? It’s a great color. It’s not plumping. And B thinks I am nuts.

Lip Vernis – Camellia

~Free Nail Color Coupon ($14): I was excited to get a free product coupon and am planning to get one of their fun glittery polishes! I’m not 100% sure which one, but I am thinking O Canada! or America the Beautiful. It appears that it will be a battle of the countries!

Free Nail Color Coupon

When combined, I received a total of $88 in product for only $19.99. I was very happy with everything and would totally order another mystery box! Did you get a Cupid’s Mystery Box? What’d you get? I believe they still have some left, so if you haven’t bought one yet, there is still time! Or, if you’d rather just win one, don’t forget to enter my giveaway!

(*) One of them anyways. I haven’t received the one for my giveaway yet.

I haven’t gotten my mystery box yet, so excited to see what others have received! Haven’t received the other Maven box I ordered either, so maybe the mail is just slow? Love the Morgan and Maria shades you got, so hoping I get something similar! Enjoy!

Ooohh! I’ve always wanted Petra. If you like glitter polishes, I totally recommend Yumi. It’s my favorite Julep glitter. Harper is also a great glitter from them (blue green mermaid-ish color). Oscar is a beautiful gold glitter. My America polish has dried up a lot. 🙁 P.S. Be careful with Julep. It is super addictive. It’s so hard to turn down their mystery boxes. Before you know it, you will have 50 polishes.

I received the same one as you and was really happy with my colors! Petra was a dupe, but its such a pretty color that I could totally regift it. I needed more purple and I LOVE Maria. Totally my style. I think the pink is maybe a little TOO pink for my finger nails, but I will totally wear it on my toes. Or maybe I’ll try your glitter idea. Everything really IS better with glitter. The only bad part is I didn’t get my voucher for a free polish! I have an email in to CS and I’m sure it will get take care of.

I got the mystery box too! Hopefully I’ll have time to put up my blog post about it tomorrow 🙂 I got all pinks and reds in mine, plus the same lip gloss and the free color.

That box would make a nice gift for someone!

I bought two Mystery boxes and was so excited about them after they arrived I bought two more. Don’t they have some sort of guarantee about no duplicate colors if you order less than four boxes? Either way, I am not going to complain (after what you see was in box #1!) Here is the list of what I received in each box (made for my blog review coming out next week!):
    Box 1:

Everyday Hand Cream with SPF 30 (the closest match I could find on their site is Daylight Defense with SPF 30) – $28.00
Body Frosting in Pink Grapefruit – $18.00
    TopCoat for Hair – $16.00
    Maria – Shimmering platinum rose – $14.00
    Molly – Classic red cr?me – $14.00
Petra – Cranberry magenta with silver shimmer – $14.00
    Carrie – Classic, cotton candy pink cr?me. – $14.00
    Eileen – Trina Turk Fall 2012 – $14.00
    Lynn – Nude, blush pearl. – $14.00
Morgan – Frosty grape purple shimmer – $14.00
Nail Therapy Base Coat – $16.00
Coupon for One Free Nail Color – $14.00

    Box 2:
Lip Gloss in Camellia – $18.00
    Rose – A juicy watermelon red cr?me. – $14.00
    Molly – Classic red cr?me – $14.00
    Niecy – Bright pink cr?me. – $14.00
    Lynn – Nude, blush pearl. – $14.00
Coupon for One Free Nail Color – $14.00

As you can see, major discrepancy between boxes, but for $40.00 I am not going to complain!!

I got the same box you have. Love the colors and the gloss.

  8. Jency Kuriakose

I love the Julep Color bottles, if nothing else. It’s so sleek and pretty.

You should have painted each fingernail a different color to show how the color looks when dry. That would make for some festive nails 🙂

I like the O Canada polish more. 🙂 I got my tracking for my maven box a couple days ago but haven’t received tracking info on the mystery box. Some boxes have so much in them others just the polish and lip gloss! I’m excited!

I got the exact same box. I keep hoping for a big mystery box one day, but I still think this one was pretty good. I think they are a way better value than the monthly boxes! I basically just order mystery boxes and skip the monthly’s!
