March Wittlebee Box

My March Wittlebee box arrived today (early I might add since I wasn’t expecting it until Monday) and I couldn’t wait to see what Wittlebee has selected for me.  If you recall, Wittlebee now allows you to select 3 of the 6 pieces in your box from their “Showroom”, while they select the other 3.

The Box

Wittlebee’s boxes are super cute, however, I should mention that they have changed their shipping from USPS to FedEx Smart Post (aka SO SLOW), but what can you do?  USPS rates went up, which I am assuming factored into the change.

First Look

I was pretty pleased with my first look since I don’t like anything too crazy or wild or with giant trucks on it.  I’m cool with the wildest pjs on the planet, but I like the day to day clothes to be, well, more boring.  Plus, L likes to dress like B (and WB probably will too), and oddly, B doesn’t have a lot of Angry Birds shirts ;).  Solids are much easier to match.

Allright, enough of all that.  Here’s what we got in our March Wittlebee box:

~cottonseed Hoodie – Black (My Pick) (~$20):  While I was browsing the showroom, I didn’t see three things I loved for WB.  So I played around and realized I could get ANYTHING at all in the showroom that I wanted.  Boy or Girl.  Any size.  So I went off in search of stuff for L.  And found the cutest thermal hoodie(s).  This is so my L’s style, so I was super excited to see it!

~cottonseed Hoodie – Blue (My Pick) (~$20): What can I say, I liked the style (A LOT) and they had it in a different color, so I went for it.  L will be able to use this now, on chilly nights this summer and hopefully in the fall.  Love it.  I’d buy more colors if I could.  I’d buy all dem colors.

~cottonseed Long-Sleeved Long Sleeved Lap Tee (My Pick) ($16): I am cracking up.  This was one of MY picks and when I opened the box, I was all, wow, this looks familiar.  Umm, yeah, because I got it LAST month.  Had it been one of Wittlebee’s picks I would have been annoyed to get it two months in a row, but it was mine so all I can do is laugh!

Cottonseed Long Sleeved T-Shirt – Light Blue

~Threadless Tiger / Monkey Tee (Wittlebee Pick) ($12.99): We got a threadless shirt last month too (which I thought was cuter, but whatever) and I am still stumped by the material of this t-shirt.  It’s SO thin.  But WB looks good in everything, so we’ll figure it out. It’s not my favorite of the treadless shirts, but I can handle it.

~Kate Quinn Organics Hoodie & Pants (Wittlebee Pick) (~$35): Oh man, this is adorable.  I can’t find it online anywhere, but I estimated it at around $35.  It’s probably worth more, but I asked B what he’d pay and he said $35, so I went with it.  WB is going to look so flippin cute in this little sailboat hoodie.  And the pieces can be easily worn together or separated.  He’s going to find a reason to wear this next week for sure!

All totaled, I came up with a value of $103.99 for my March Wittlebee box.  A few of the items were estimates since I couldn’t find the exact pieces online.  I used the max I would actually pay for that item in the store as my estimate.  I was going to pause my subscription, but now I am not so sure.  I really like that you can now select 3 of the 6 pieces in your box and that you can pick from any of the other sizes.  I mean if there is nothing in WB’s or L’s size that I LOVE, I don’t mind picking a 2T or 3T piece that I love to save for later you know?

Ahhhhh! I NEED that Quinn Organics outfit fit baby D!!! When WB is all done I will totally buy that from you! Lol!

I gave them a try and I wish I could say I loved them. I really liked two of the three pieces I picked out. For their picks I got the same tiger tee you did, a Dino tee, and long sleeve knight shirt and I didn’t really like any of them. I think this might be a hit and miss kind of monthly box. I love the sailboat outfit you got though!

You know, it seems (to me at least) that Wittlebee works better for boys than girls. That sailboat outfit is really cute. I subscribed for my daughter last year and didn’t like it at all. Maybe part of it was that I couldn’t choose any of it myself at that point, but I wanted cute prints and girly outfits and only got solids, a few of which looked suspiciously like boy clothing. On top of that, the only box I checked for things I needed when I signed up was skirts and dresses. I would have totally been ok with getting other things, too, but I didn’t get one skirt or dress. After calling them, I took them up on their offer to send the box back on their dime and have a new one sent to me, but when I got it back, they had just switched out 2 things for one dress, which I didn’t even really like. I was just pretty annoyed with them and decided not to give them another month to redeem themselves. Oh well. Cancelling that allowed me to sign up for Citrus Lane, which has been a hit so far!

I signed up today, mainly because of your reviews! I’m new to the world of subs and you’re blog is becoming my “go to” source for the best boxes. Love all of your reviews!

I got my very first box this month and was disappointed. I only received 4 items. I emailed them and they gave me a $10 credit but I expected they would at least get someone’s very first box right. I canceled already. I want to be wowed on my first box, not emailing customer service because something is wrong. 🙁

@Tia: This exact same thing happened to me . My first box this moth, only 4 items in the box and only 2 were ones I had chosen. I emailed them and they gave me a ten dollar credit. I am Canceling as well, very disappointed.

Tuff Stuff got the Kate Quinn set and the threadless Money shirt as well. When I went to the KQ site to estimate cost I couldn’t find an exact match so I put my oldest on it (home for spring break) she finally found a similar one in red with tugboat outline foor $32 each piece reguarly priced but on sale for $$19 each piece (if that helps) I had no idea what to value the monkey shirt so i went with $5 (I do LOVE the color of the threadless shirt if that counts) and we adore the Kate Quinn set.

I’ve gotten Wittlebee off and on. I was excited to try out the showroom so signed up again, this time for baby girl (I never found their boys clothing to be anything special…though that set you received is adorable!). I LOVED the box I received this month – I picked two Tea Collection dresses and a Rabbit Moon dress and they sent a cute Threadless t-shirt and an adorable organic set. Very happy!

    The “madness” code already expired 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

I got wittlebee for a few months it was my first subscription box ever and I loved it for two months and I got some referrals so I was only paying half price and it was so worth it, then we moved up a size and the next two months were terrible and I had to start paying full price and so this month I just decided even though I don’t hate it I didn’t love it any more so I decided to cancel in order to try a different box, now I’m on to citrus lane. Well see how long before I move on to something else lol.

  10. Danielle

Ok so I googled the sailboat hoodie after I got my first box ( today) to see if there were any reviews of it out there…and look why came up! Is it me or are the pants really really tiny?

  11. Danielle

And as a side note….I’m hot to hear I’m not the only one who thinks these tshirts are less than “quality” I’m seriously afraid that when I wash mine they will ruin.

  12. Erine

I’ve been super unhappy with my Wittlebee subscription for my little boy. I’ve received two boxes and have liked only two of the items I’ve received. I get a lot of seasonally inappropriate items, cheap stuff (tons of those threadless t-shirts), and incorrectly sized things that make me think these are outlet items from the “not quite perfect” section.

They have discontinued the use of style preferences. As I was told by their customer service rep over email: “Preferences are no longer taken into consideration for the 3 items we choose. The reason being that with the new showroom you now apply your style preferences directly to the 3 items you select each month. For selection items you can just exclude what you don’t like. For the other 3 items we can’t use those preferences.” That only kinda makes sense, since it’s not like I have unlimited choice for the showroom items. I have to choose from the options I’m given so if I don’t like them, or they contain duplicates of items I’ve already received, or contain duplicates of other items in the same showroom, I don’t really have great choices. Three of the items I received this month had the tags cut out of them, which makes me really skeptical of the source, quality, and currency of these items. I’m in a prepaid subscription and can’t cancel, so I’m stuck with them for a while. Hopefully I can find a charitable source that needs children’s clothing

I have been a subscriber of Wittlebee for quite some time and I keep waiting for them to “get their act together” but they never have. Their customer service has never been great but now it is NON-EXISTENT. They now prohibit anyone who has EVER posted any kind of a neutral or negative comment on their FB page from posting ANYTHING AT ALL. They will NOT credit or refund ANY item. I received a size 12 month shirt in my 18-24 month box and they wouldn’t do ANYTHING – no credit and no replacement. They will charge you card and ship a month after the charge and the slow packing/processing and shipping never changes. They are now offering a “Showroom” feature that allows you to choose up to 3 items for your box but so far I have only seen graphic T-Shirts and sweatpants available in my sons size (I prefer polo style shirts and neither of my kids wear sweatpants). They RARELY if ever send matching set of anything. In the beginning they offered 8 items then they took 2 away and only sent 6 items – now they are charging for shipping and sending only 6 items that are a much lower quality and value than they used to be. I’m so tired of waiting for this company to get their act together it’s pathetic. Instead of getting better, they are getting worse – such a shame since it was a great concept. I am fed up with this company. I just got my “Showroom” selection option this month but after I get my box I am canceling my subscription and will tell everyone I know that this is NOT worth the cost and frustration!
