April Fancy Food Box

I enjoyed last month’s Fancy Food Box so much that I decided to continue my subscription. I mentioned it last month, but Samplrs was taken over by Fancy and is now called the Fancy Food Box. Each Fancy Food Box includes five or more food products – anything from cookies and chocolates to teas and sauces – along with a selection of tasty recipes and pairing suggestions for $47.95/month ($39 + $7.95/shipping).

The Box

I gotta say, I am LOVING the new brightly colored Fancy boxes! They are so much more fun than the plain white ones were. It seems like the Fancy Boxes all now ship from MA, when they previously shipped from OH. All that means is that people on the East Coast get them faster now and I get them a day or two later.

First Look

This month’s box weighed 5.7 pounds and was nice and full. Although since some of the items are breakable a lot of that is packaging material. Still it’s a good sized bunch of products.

The Information Cards

I’m still loving these little information cards! They are adorable and are a nice twist to the regular old single sheet card everyone else has. Here’s what we got:

~Devine Brine Pickle Relish ($4): I don’t like pickles or relish or anything of the sort, but I believe B does. I mean, let’s be honest, he’ll eat just about anything. I am sure he will put this to good use bbq’ing on the patio this summer.

~Mina Harissa – Mild($8.95): Mina Harissa is a traditional Moroccan red pepper sauce and can be used for just about anything. As a sauce for pasta, steaks, vegetables, etc., a side dip for bread, chips and ribs or even as a spread on a burger or pizza. I can super excited to see what B comes up with for this stuff!

~Dave’s Vanilla All Natural Cold Brewed Coffee Syrup($10.99): We got the Original Coffee Syrup in a Mantry a few months ago and enjoyed it, so I am anxious to try the Vanilla. I am actually thinking about blending this with milk and *maybe* even a little caramel to make my own frappe. I think that sounds pretty amazing right about now.

~bobbysue’s nuts – Original ($3.49): We’ve had these before (it’s possible they were in a Goodies Box?), but they are long gone but now. Long gone. I suspect these will be long gone tonight. I’m not a fan of nuts (why does that always sound so dirty), but B is!

~Quirky Citrus Spritzer ($4.99): We actually have one of these (from the Birchbox Home Edition box), but I see nothing wrong with having two.  We’ve used the other one and it really works.  We were shocked too!

~Cinco Jotas Hand-Cut Sliced Bellota Shoulder Ham ($19.50): I am dying to see what is so amazing about this ham that it costs $39 for 3, yes 3oz.  The process to make this sounds intense (it cures for an average of 2 years) and is watched during every step by the Maestro Jamonero (Master Ham Craftsman).  Dude, I don’t even LIKE ham and I am dying to try this!

~Zoe’s Chocolate Co. – The Pretzel Bar ($7.50): I have no idea what could be wrong with this chocolate bar.  Dark chocolate and pretzels?  I’m pretty sure that’s the most amazing combination in the entire world.

All totaled, the April Fancy Food Box had a value of $59.42!  More than the $46.95 cost of the box and way more than the $21.95 that I paid since I had a $25 coupon code!  We are totally sticking with the Fancy Food Box for a few more months.  B and I have loved both of them so far, so why not?

Did you get a Fancy Food Box this month?  What’d you think?  If you are interested in subscribing or want to learn more, click here.  Ohh, and if you are having trouble finding the different Fancy boxes, just do a search for “Fancy Box” and they will all come up!  And if you order use code “25OFF7″ (if that doesn’t work, try “25OFF8”) to save $25 off your box!
